Yamaha MT-15 Sales Take A Massive Dip, Is An Update Around The Corner?
The MT-15 sold just 17 units last month, a significant dip compared to previous month sales
[UPDATE: Yamaha has launched the MT-15 Version 2.0 in India. From pricing to specs and features, check out the details in our launch story]
It seems that the updated Yamaha MT-15 could be around the corner. Our guess stems from the January 2022 sales reports that show the Japanese bikemaker offered a rather small batch to the market and sold just 17 units of the naked.
Yes. Of the 80 units manufactured last month, Yamaha has sold just 17 units of the MT-15. That’s a massive dip in sales, considering the motorcycle was racking up good numbers till December last year.
The table will explain:
December 2021 |
November 2021 |
October 2021 |
|
Yamaha MT-15 Units Sold |
1756 |
2727 |
6016 |
Now, the consistent dip in sales since October is actually due to a reduction in production, only lending plausibility to our conjecture.

In fact, in January, we broke the news that the MT-15 will soon get Bluetooth connectivity. Last year, we also got exclusive information that a dual-channel ABS-equipped MT-15 was in the works. Now, with the R15 V4 on sale, equipping the MT-15 with a Bluetooth-enabled console, dual-channel ABS, and possibly a USD fork should be easier from a manufacturing standpoint.
The Yamaha MT-15 currently retails from Rs 1,46,900 (ex-showroom Delhi) onwards, and with these updates, the price could go up to Rs 1.50 lakh.
