Yamaha sales up 32 percent in June
Gearing up for the road ahead with its exciting product line-up and innovative marketing initiatives, India Yamaha Motor has registered 32% growth in sales during June 2010 as compared to the corresponding period last year. It sold 28,155 units in June 2010 as against 21,278 units sold in June 2009. In domestic markets, the company sold 21,157 units in June 2010 as compared to 17,878 units in the same month last year. The export figures stood at 6,998 units in June 2010 while 3,400 units were exported in June 2009. “It is a sense of pride to witness Yamaha’s growing foothold in the Indian two-wheeler industry. The first half of the year has been indeed result-driven which is reflected not only in our sales graph but also in the initiatives taken to get closer to our consumers. With an exciting product portfolio, we have been receiving an overwhelming response from Indian and overseas consumers across all product segments, particularly from our newly launched YBR110 and premium segment bikes such as YZF-R15, FZ series. Our refreshed FZ & FZ-S with new colours is doing very well and customers have appreciated.” said Mr. Koji Arai, Director & Chief Sales Officer, India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. With improving infrastructure facilities in India, Yamaha is making extensive efforts to elevate the biking culture in India and make the consumers experience the sheer thrill of biking. Some of the marketing initiatives include R15 One Make Race, Yamaha Safe Riding Science, Yamaha Dream ride etc. After receiving a tremendous response from the R15 One Make Race Championship (Round 1) as part of the SIDVIN-FMSCI National Motorcycle Racing Championship-2010, Yamaha is set to bring another round of championship on 3rd & 4th July and has invited participation from both Yamaha as well as non-Yamaha customers. To promote safe biking culture, Yamaha will also organize ‘Yamaha Safe Riding Science’ activity this month.
