Yamaha YZF-R7 And MT-09 India Launch Teased
We could expect the bikes to be here some time later this year
Yamaha Motor India has released a new TVC pertaining to the ‘Call of the Blue’ campaign and the brand featured all the motorcycles and scooters from its existing product range. Interestingly, the two-minute-long TVC also showed two premium motorcycles that are not on sale in India: the YZF-R7 and MT-09 SP, with ‘TN’ temporary number plates.
We suspect Yamaha would try to introduce both these motorcycles before the BS6-2 OBD regulations kick in from April 1 2023. We could hence see them in India by the end of the year, something we covered back in June.

The R7’s 698cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin heart makes 73.4PS and 67Nm It comes armed to the gills and features fully-adjustable suspension and even an optional quickshifter.
The MT-09 SP, on the other hand, makes 119PS and 93Nm from its 890cc inline-three engine. It gets fully-adjustable KYB & Ohlins suspension, a fancy paint scheme, a different seat as well as cruise control over the standard MT-09.
The bikes will be brought in through the Completely Built Up route and sold in limited batches. With that, the MT-09 could be priced around Rs 14 lakh while the YZF-R7 could set you back by about Rs 11 lakh (both prices ex-showroom). So, even though Yamaha getting its mid-displacement motorcycles to India is good news, they may not be as affordable as you’d expect them to be.
