Yezdi Scrambler vs Zongshen Cyclone RE3 Scrambler: Photo Comparison

Let's see how the Indian scrambler stacks up against its expensive Chinese rival

Mahindra-owned Classic Legends has resurrected the Yezdi brand in India, and the company has arrived with three new bikes, one of which is the Scrambler. Meanwhile, in the Chinese market, Zongshen has also recently introduced the scrambler version (called the Climbing Edition) of its Cyclone RE3. Let's take a look at how these scramblers fare against each other.

Starting with the design, both the bikes get a rugged stance. The fascia of the Yezdi Scrambler gets a circular LED headlight, a sharp beak and a small flyscreen. Meanwhile, the Zongshen Cyclone RE3 Scrambler looks a little more rugged thanks to the tank braces flanking the LED projector headlight, a sharp beak and a slightly taller windscreen.

Moving to the side, you'll see that the Yezdi Scrambler gets a neat and clean look as it only gets a 'Yezdi' logo and a 'Scrambler' sticker. On the other hand, the Cyclone RE3 Scrambler gets ‘RE' graphics on its fuel tank and an 'E3' sticker on its side. Both bikes also feature a few similar elements such as an underbelly pan, twin exhaust pipes and a single-piece seat.

On the features front, the Yezdi Scrambler comes equipped with a fully digital instrument cluster that displays an odometer, tripmeter, speedometer, fuel level gauge, and gear position indicator. Meanwhile, the Cyclone RE3 Scrambler also features a digital instrument console, but gets 4G connectivity, OBD port, and backlit switches.

Powering the Yezdi Scrambler is a Jawa Perak-derived (but tuned differently) 334cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that churns out 29.1PS and 28.2Nm. On the other hand, the Cyclone RE3 Scrambler uses a bigger 401cc twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that produces 42.8PS and 34Nm.

Both motorcycles use an identical suspension setup: a USD fork up front and dual shock absorbers at the rear. Talking about the braking hardware, the Yezdi Scrambler uses a single disc at both ends with axial calipers while the RE3 Scrambler employs a dual disc up front and a single disc at the rear with radial calipers. This braking hardware on both bikes is further assisted by dual-channel ABS. Having said that, the Yezdi Scrambler also gets three ABS modes: Road, Off-road & Rain, which the RE3 Scrambler misses out on.

The spoke wheel size is also the same on both bikes as they roll on a 19-/17-inch setup. The ones on the Yezdi Scrambler come wrapped in dual-purpose MRF rubber while the Cyclone RE3 Scrambler uses tubeless tyres. Spoke wheels and tubeless tyres is a combination which is usually found on much more expensive bikes.

The Yezdi Scrambler is offered in a choice of six paint schemes: Fire Orange, Outlaw Olive, Yelling Yellow, Midnight Blue, Mean Green and Rebel Red. The Cyclone RE3 Scrambler, on the other hand, is available in only three colours: Windsor Red, Swallowtail Grey, and Fanxing Blue.

The price of the Yezdi Scrambler ranges from Rs 2,04,900 to Rs 2,10,900 (ex-showroom Delhi). Meanwhile, the Cyclone RE3 Scrambler is available in two variants: Modern Climbing Version priced at 31,980 yuan (around 3.75 lakh) and the Jazz Climbing Version (if the translations are correct) priced at 33,980 yuan (around 3.99 lakh).
