Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid

The Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid is a stylish scooter with a unique design. With its vintage flair, the Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid stands out in the crowd of 125cc scooters. The Fascino and the Ray ZR are the only scooters in India to get mild-hybrid technology and are also the lightest scooters in the 125cc segment.

The Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid has a retro touch and looks curvaceous, which is likely to catch a lot of attention wherever it goes. The scooter features an LED headlamp with daytime running LED and an LED tail lamp. Depending on the colour option, there are chrome or gloss black highlights, which further enhance its striking design.

Yamaha rolled out the 2024 Fascino 125cc hybrid scooter, featuring striking colour choices intended to spark enthusiasm and flair among Indian customers. The various colour options available across the variant lineup include Cyan Blue, Vivid Red, Yellow Cocktail, Silver, Matte Copper, Metallic White, Metallic Black, Cool Blue Metallic, and Dark Matte Blue. The overall build quality and finish are commendable, typical of Yamaha's standards. 

The Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid is India's first scooter with mild-hybrid technology. This technology uses a lithium-ion battery, which is placed under the footboard and works in sync with the Smart Motor Generator (SMG). The mild-hybrid technology enhances the power output at low speeds for short durations and aids in mileage.

The Yamaha Fascino 125 Hybrid's 125cc engine provides smooth and continuous acceleration, with 8.2PS @ 6500 RPM of maximum power and 10.3Nm @ 5000 rpm of maximum torque. There's also a convenient Stop & Start function feature, which turns off the engine after a few seconds spent idling in traffic and instantly restarts upon applying the throttle. 

In tests conducted in city riding conditions, the Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid delivered a fuel efficiency figure of 68.75 kmpl.

With just 99 kg kerb weight, the Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid is one of the lightest 125cc scooters. That makes it easy to handle the bike in urban environments. The Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid easily manoeuvres obstacles, thanks to the slightly stiffer hydraulic telescopic fork suspension at the front and hydraulic coil spring suspension at the rear. 

The standard 130mm drum brakes at both ends are not too strong, and the optional 190mm front disc in the Disc variant offers a more progressive feel.

The suspension setup of the Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid is on the firmer side. It might result in uncomfortable ride quality over bad roads, as you will feel every bump while riding fast. However, the low-speed ride quality is decently comfortable. Despite its excellent handling attributes, the firm ride quality potentially compromises comfort over uneven surfaces.

The Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid has a fully digital instrument panel that can sync with your smartphone via the Yamaha Y-Connect app. This feature provides call and message alerts directly on the dashboard. The layout of this panel is user-friendly, offering easy readability. 

Additional safety features include an engine cut-off mechanism when the side stand is deployed. While it provides a USB charging port, it's an optional accessory and not a standard fitment. We would have liked to see turn-by-turn navigation support, even as an optional feature.

The Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid has an appealing mix of a unique design, agile performance, and modern features. Its unique hybrid technology makes everyday commuting economical. A few improvements in ride quality over rough roads could enhance its appeal further. The Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid remains a strong contender in the 125cc retro scooter segment for those who value ease of riding and long-term reliability.
