About Aprilia RSV4 (2012-2019)

December 21, 2015: Aprilia is an Italian motorcycle manufacturing company that introduced its extravagant super sports bike in India back in 2009.  Named as Aprilia RSV4, the bike gets its power from 999.6cc, longitudinal 65° V4 cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that comes linked to a 6-speed transmission system. After some time, the company has also launched another variant of RSV4 that features an Anti-Lock Braking system, Known as Aprilia RSV4 Factory ABS. RSV4 equipped with some visionary and advanced characteristics like an electronic steering damper, launch control and traction control while the RSV4 Factory ABS loaded with Aprilia Quick Shift electronic system (AQS) and an adjustable Ohlins electronic steering damper. Aprilia RSV4 is available in Matte Black and Formula Red colors whereas the ABS variant is available in Racing Black Color. Overview

Needless to say, Aprilia RSV4 is one of the best liter-class machines among the Yamaha YZF-R1, Suzuki GSX-1000R and Honda CBR1000RR. It is a flagship model in the company’s portfolio. The good looking sports bike comes with a state-of-the-art technology based on their WSBK racer. Powering the bike is 999.6cc, longitudinal 65° V-4 cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that is merged to 6-speed cassette transmission.

The bike is a fully-faired machine and houses a stylish twin headlamp section with a central positioning light at the front. The twin rear view mirrors are fitted on the front visor. The fuel tank of the machine is crafted sharply that syncs very well to the overall body language and offers an upright riding position. It's well-padded split step-up seat provide a smooth yet comfortable ride to the rider as well as the pillion. The instrument console of the motorcycle comprises of an analogue tachometer, a digital speedometer, trip meter and a fuel gauge. Coming to the rear, the bike comes with a keen tail lamp section along with an exquisitely crafted rear fender and the clear lens blinker are embedded on it. The total kerb weight of the sports bike is 181 kgs.

Aprilia’s RSV4 bestowed with a well-cushioned step-up, split seat which gives it an attractive look and high-level of comfort to the rider as well as pillion. Talking about the rear, it has furnished with a sharp tail lamp section, along with exquisitely designed fender and clear lens turn blinkers. The total kerb weight of this super sports bike is 181 Kg. The maker of the machine configured it with some visionary technical elements such as Aprilia Performance Ride Control system (APRC) that consists of Traction Control (aTC), Wheelie Control (aWC), Launch Control (aLC). Apart from this, the vehicle is also provided with an AQS (Aprilia Quick Shift) electronic system and an electronic steering damper that gives high convenience and safety.

Design

Aprilia RSV4 is a faired super sports machine and completely designed on a race inspired theme. At the front, the bike has an elegant twin headlamp section with a positioning light at the center. The twin rear view mirrors find their place at the front visor and the clear lens turn blinkers are fitted intelligently on it. The instrument cluster of the bike is easy to read and informative that displays the information about a digital speedometer, fuel gauge, twin trip meter and an analogue tachometer. It also sports a sharply crafted fuel tank of 18.5-liter capacity. It receives RSV4 written on front fairing while the Aprilia moniker finds its place just underneath on the panel that covers the exhaust system. Furthermore, it comes with a sporty step-up, split seat that offers an optimum comfort to the rider as well as the pillion.

Talking about the rear, the bike gets a stylish tail lamp section and the clear lens turn indicators are mounted over rear fender along with number plate section. Bolted on a twin-spar aluminium frame, it has a body dimension of 2040 mm in length, 735 mm in width, 1120 mm in height that gives it a respectable stance on the street. A wheelbase of 1420 mm ensures an agile handling while a minimum ground clearance of 130mm promises premium stability around the corners. It receives RSV4 written on front fairing while the Aprilia moniker finds its place just underneath on the panel that covers the exhaust system.

Engine, Mileage & Performance

Aprilia RSV4 is propelled by a 999.6cc, V4, 4-Stroke liquid cooling engine that comes coupled to a 6-speed gearbox. It uses a Multiplate wet clutch with mechanical slipper system that helps it to transmits the power to the rear wheels with ease and provide uninterrupted power delivery. The fuel injected mill is capable enough for developing 181.48bhp at 12500 rpm along with 117Nm at 10000 rpm. Moreover, it has been furnished with an advanced Aprilia Quick Shift electronic system (AQS) that help the rider to shift gears without using a clutch. It has a compression ratio of  13:1 and a power oriented bore x stroke ratio of 78 mm x 52.3 mm.

Handling & Ride Quality

Aprilia RSV4 runs on the 120/70-ZR17 front and 200/55-ZR17 radial tubeless tyres that are encircled over stylish tough black alloy wheels. The fierce stopping power is imparted by dual 320mm disc brakes with Brembo four-piston callipers at the front and 220mm disc brake with Brembo twin-piston calliper at the rear. Forbye, the braking becomes more precise and responsive with the incorporation of Bosch 9MP ABS unit with three mapping that works well in all conditions. The suspension system comprises of Öhlins upside-down telescopic fork at the front and Double braced aluminium swingarm aided mono shock absorber at the rear that provides smooth yet comfortable ride on any surface.

Features

Aprilia RSV4 loaded with Bosch 9MP ABS system (Anti-Lock Braking) along with three map selectability that gives it an aggressive yet secure braking power even under the dense road conditions. A slipper clutch prevents losing of stimulates in the case of aggressive and sharp downshifts. Moreover, the bike features an Aprilia Quick Shift electronic system (AQS) that gives the privilege to gear shift without using a clutch. The Factory ABS version of RSV4 comes with some extravagant features like aPRC system (Aprilia Performance Ride Control) that includes Traction Control (aTC), Wheelie Control (aWC), Launch Control (aLC), all of these can be loaded and deactivated independently. The Ohlins electronic steering damper adjusts the weight on the handlebar according to different speeds, thereby giving improved handling and stability.
