BMW K 1600 Summary
October 30, 2015: BMW Motorrad introduced BMW K 1600 in the country to enhance the limitation of the Indian two-wheeler automotive market. The manufacturer offers it in two variants, i.e., GT and GTL. Both the bike are technically same and can only be differentiated because of their feature list. The bike houses a 1649 cc, in-line 6-cylinder engine that churns out 158bhp of power and 175 Nm of torque and touches a top speed mark of 200 kmph. Dark Graphite Metallic is a common color for both the variants whereas, GT is dipped in Montego Blue Metallic & Light Grey Metallic and GTL shines with Mineral Silver Metallic and Damask Red Metallic shades.

Overview
BMW, one of the most breathtaking bike manufacturer among the manufacturers, that launched three tour bike in the country. Out of which, BMW K1600 features the most strong motor and offers an ultimate riding experience with its long list of comfort and convenience characteristics. The motorcycle comes in two variants: K 1600 GT and K 1600 GTL. With same technical characteristics, these machines sport a healthy price tag, which is literally just a dream for most of the Indians. It will be giving a tough competition to Honda Gold Wing GL1800 Airbag.
The variants of the bike have the same color, Dark Graphite Metallic whereas, GT is immersed in Montego Blue Metallic & Light Grey Metallic and GTL shines with Mineral Silver Metallic and Damask Red Metallic shades. The stuff which makes it a joy to ride are BMW Motorrad Navigator IV, LED auxiliary Headlight, engine protection bar, electronic spring/damper adjustment mechanism, Dynamic traction control, height adjustable rider seat, pillion passenger armrests, adaptive headlight and so many more. The company equipped it with an ample of storage space in inner bags for panniers and top box. Furthermore, it is blessed with an audio system which controls the sound of the aggressive engine and makes the journey comforting and refreshing.
BMW K 1600 is powered by a 1649 cc, oil/water-cooled, 4-stroke, DOHC, in-line 6-cylinder engine. The motor pumps out a maximum power of 158 bhp at 7750 rpm that simultaneously comes out with a maximum torque of 175 Nm at 5250 rpm that let the bike sprint above 200 kmph with ease. It has a neatly chiseled fuel tank with a capacity of 26.5 liters along with a reserve capacity of 4 liters. The motor is mated to a 6-speed helical gearbox that drives a Cardan shaft. Constructed on a cast aluminum Bridge-type frame, the bike keeps the engine as a load-bearing member. It comes with a compression ratio of 12,2: 1 along with a bore x stroke ratio of 72 mm x 67.5 mm.
The machine comes with an overall dimension of 2489 mm in length, 1000 mm in width, 1465 mm in height along with a wheelbase of 1680 mm. The manufacturer also blessed the bike with a suspension system to offer a handy and comfortable ride to the rider as well as pillion, which consists of BMW Motorrad Duolever at the front and BMW Motorrad Paralever at the rear. It moves on 120/70 ZR 17 front and 190/55 ZR 17 rear tyres that house 3.50 x 17” front and 6.00 X 17” rear cast aluminum wheels. With ABS as standard, wheels get 320mm dual disc brake with 4-piston fixed calipers at front and 320mm disc with a double-piston caliper at the rear end.

The front profile of the bike is equipped with an LED auxiliary Headlight section which offers a vivid and stable beam of light even in low rpm situations. It is bestowed with a neatly designed fuel tank that looks amazing and provides a good riding posture to the rider. The company configured it with an enough storage space in inner bags for panniers and top box. Furthermore, it features an audio system that controls the sound of the aggressive engine and makes the journey more comforting and refreshing.
It has an overall body measurement of 2489 mm in length, 1000 mm in width, 1465 mm in height along with a wheelbase of 1680 mm, which provides superior handling in all conditions. Furthermore, it has been assisted with a huge fuel tank with a capacity of 26.5 liters along with a reserve capacity of 4 liters and its total kerb weight sums up is 319 kg. Handling & Ride Quality
The machine runs on 120/70 ZR17 front and 190/55 ZR17 rear tubeless tyres, which comes fitted over an elegant cast aluminium alloy wheels. Furthermore, it is equipped with a dual 320mm disc brakes with four piston calliper at the front and 320mm single disc brakes with a single-piston calliper at the rear, that provides a good stopping power. Apart from this, To enhance the braking ability, it is configured with standard ABS. Talking about suspension, it comes with a BMW Motorrad Duolever at the front and BMW Motorrad Paralever at the rear that offers a good and comfortable ride to the rider as well as pillion.
