BMW M 1000 RR Summary
BMW Motorrad has launched the much-awaited M 1000 RR in India in two variants: Standard and Competition. Prices start at Rs 42,00,000 (ex-showroom). These bikes are being imported as CBUs (Completely Built-up Units), hence the high price tag. Bookings for the bikes have commenced across all BMW showrooms in India.
BMW Motorrad will also offer a range of optional equipment and accessories to choose from. The M 1000 RR comes with a standard warranty of three-years/unlimited kilometres. Alternatively, you can even opt to extend the warranty period for the fourth and fifth year, for extra money of course.
BMW M 1000 RR Price:
The BMW M 1000 RR is priced at Rs 42,00,000, while the M 1000 RR Competition retailing at Rs 45,00,000 (ex-showroom). It’s available in Light White, Racing Blue Metallic and Racing Red colours.
BMW M 1000 RR Features:
The M 1000 RR gets aerodynamic carbon M winglets, a tall windscreen, a revised chassis, lighter M carbon wheels, an M battery, and more potent M brakes. Other notable features include a 6.5-inch TFT display, a USB charging socket under the seat, LED light all around, and heated grips.
The Competition adds lighter more sophisticated components to the mix. It features carbon front and rear mudguards, carbon upper fairing side panel, carbon tank cover, carbon chain guard, and a carbon sprocket cover. Billet milled parts include engine protectors, folding brake and clutch levers, brake lever guard, and rider footpegs. You also get a GPS-lap trigger, passenger kit, and a pillion seat cover as part of the package.
BMW M 1000 RR Engine:
The 999cc inline four-cylinder engine features revised internals, increased compression and a lightweight exhaust system made entirely of titanium. The result is an increased power output of 212PS at 14500rpm and 113Nm of peak torque at 11000rpm.
In terms of electronic rider aids, the bike gets four riding modes -- Rain, Road, Dynamic and Race -- in the standard trim with Pro riding modes (Race Pro 1-3) offered as optional extras. The Pro modes are freely programmable as per the rider’s needs, which means you can alter the sharpness of the throttle, engine braking, traction control, wheelie control, ABS, and ABS Pro. The ‘Pro Modes’ also give access to launch control and add a pit-lane limiter.
BMW M 1000 RR Suspension & Brakes:
Suspension-wise, the M 1000 RR features the same 45mm USD fork and monoshock, adjustable for preload, compression and rebound damping. Its 320mm disc brakes though feature more powerful M brake callipers with blue anodised coating. Lighter 17-inch carbon wheels ensure weight reduction and improved power to weight ratio.
BMW M 1000 RR Rivals:
In terms of price, the BMW M 1000 RR competes against the 2021 Ducati Panigale V4 and the Honda CBR1000RR-R. However, if you were to consider its segment, it also takes on the 2021 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R and the Yamaha R1.

- The S1000RR is a "rocketThe S1000RR is a "rocket ship" with "huge reserves of straight line and cornering performance". It's also capable of being a track demon while still being suitable for the road. Comfort The S1000RR is comfortable for long rides, with a comfortable riding position and a tall screen that cuts through the wind quietly. It also has heated grips and cruise control. Technology The S1000RR has advanced technology features, including sophisticated steering-angle-informed slide control, downforce-generating wings, and a bidirectional quick shifter. Build quality The S1000RR is well-built and has a strong brand reputation. However, some say that the S1000RR has a higher initial cost than some competitors, and that maintenance and repair costs can be expensive. Others say that the S1000RR's dynamic ability and outright limits are so far above what most riders will experience on the road.Read MoreWas this review helpful?
