Available in two variants, D15i and D15 Pro, the e-scooter effortlessly blends form and function and has a stylish flair. Oh, did we mention it offers a range of 115km, making it one of the most range-efficient offerings on the market? Here’s everything else you need to know: 

Design

The BGauss D15 features a minimalistic design, with silver garnish sprinkled across its bodywork. This includes the classic circular LED headlamps and clean body panels on the side. The sporty graphics add a bit of edginess to the design. In case that’s not enough, the Mumbai-based company will offer the e-scooter in five different colour options to choose from. 

Considering the conditions of our roads and erratic weather patterns, special attention to practicality has been given to this made-in-India scooter. The new BGauss D15 features a wide single-seat set, which ought to make long rides more comfortable. Then there are the 16-inch wheels that add to a healthy 175mm of ground clearance. It also comes with a full metal body for added ruggedness.

Powertrain 

Driving the BGauss D15 is a hub-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor. It churns out a respectable 3.1kW of power and 110Nm of torque. This helps the e-scooter sprint from 0-40kmph in 7 seconds, with a top speed of 60kmph. Both the BG D15i and BG D15 Pro get three different modes: Eco, Sports and Reverse. Yet another nifty addition here is the ‘Distance To Empty’ functionality which shows how many kilometres the vehicle can travel.

Battery and Range 

Coming to the heart of the matter, the e-scooter is powered by an IP67 rated 3.2kWh li-ion battery pack. But what makes the EV so versatile is the ability to detach the battery pack and charge it separately. Considering how India’s EV infrastructure is still in its nascent stage, and how many popular electric offerings on the market are restricted to certain Tier 1 cities, this is a welcome addition.

Overall, the new BGauss D15 offers a range of 115km on a single charge and can be topped up to 100 percent in 5 hours 30 minutes, But if you go for the optional fast charger, this can be brought down to just 1 hour and 30 minutes. 

Convenience features

BGauss Electric has loaded the new BG D15 with all sorts of bells and whistles, including a digital instrument cluster, anti-theft alert system, USB charging socket and more. The Pro variant ups the ante with more connectivity features like remote health vehicle control, geo-fencing, find my vehicle functionality, roll-over alert, vehicle health check, state of charge and more. 

Dealership Network 

Unlike many electric offerings on the market right now, which are mostly restricted to certain cities, BGauss boasts of a healthy dealership network of 52 showrooms in 46 cities. This includes multiple stores in  8 states - Maharashtra,  Gujarat, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Telangana. 

But that’s not it. Just last month the company raised Rs 52 crore in funding which will be used in expanding its already extensive network, with an additional 50 more showrooms set to open by December 2022. With the rising petrol costs and pan-India limitations of other e-scooters, the BGauss D15 may just be our biggest bet right now.
