Jawa 350

Change Bike

The Jawa 350 is a retro-style roadster offering which competes with the Royal Enfield Classic 350. The bike features an authentic retro design and styling that is similar to what we have seen on the original Jawa 250 of the past. It gets a lot of chrome elements and is offered in a wide range of colours.

How many variants does the Jawa 350 have?

The Jawa 350 is offered in two variants: Spoke Wheel and Alloy Wheel. The Spoke Wheel variant as the name suggests is equipped with a spoke wheel setup which matches the retro styling of the bike. While the Alloy Wheel variant is a more practical option as it gets tubeless tyres, makes dealing with punctures easier compared to spoke wheels. Other than the wheel configurations the bikes share the same components and colours.

How many colours does the Jawa 350 get?

The Jawa 350 is offered in 2 styles and 7 colourways. The Chrome style is available in Maroon, Mystique Orange, White and Black colours. And the Solid style comes in Deep Forest, Grey and Obsidian Black colours. The two styles are offered so that one has a choice to select either from the flashy Chrome colours or the more subtle solid colours.

What is the mileage of the Jawa 350?

In our mileage tests, the Jawa 350 returned a mileage of 32.03 kmpl in the city and 28.32kmpl on the highway. The numbers aren’t impressive considering it is a 350cc bike, and are about acceptable. It is equipped with a 13.2-litre fuel tank.

Is the Jawa 350 a comfortable bike for the city?

The Jawa 350 has a comfortable riding position and is powered by a 334cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, producing 22.5PS and 28.2Nm offering quite an engaging riding experience. It also gets a smooth shifting 6-speed gearbox and a slip-and-assist clutch which is light to actuate while making your way through traffic.

Is the Jawa 350 a comfortable bike for long rides?

The Jawa 350 has a strong mid-range power output which makes the bike enjoyable to ride on the highways. However, while riding at speeds of around 100kmph vibrations can be felt on the footpegs and handlebar but it will not bother you much. While its retro looks can be deceiving, once you hop on the bike it is a completely different story. The new seat design also has become much more comfortable, making the Jawa 350 a pretty good option for long highway rides.

What features does the Jawa 350 have?

In terms of features, the Jawa 350 is humble, equipped with an analogue instrument console with a digital inset. Its analogue console is styled similarly to the ones we saw on the old-school models and overall looks premium and classic and displays speedometer, odometer and fuel gauge readings. A drawback is the position of its metre which makes it difficult to read its lower half while riding.

Should you buy the Jawa 350?

The Jawa 350 is a very attractive option for someone looking for a bike in the retro segment. This bike almost feels like going back in time with its retro design however its engine and performance have a more sporty and modern approach. It is a good option for daily commutes and weekend getaways.

What are the rivals to the Jawa 350?

In the retro-roadster segment, the Jawa 350 rivals the likes of the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Honda Hness CB350 and the Benelli Imperiale 400.

Things We Like

  • The updated design and styling look premium and retro; really classy
  • More refined engine than before which is also peppy and exciting
  • Gets an upright riding position, which can also be a bit sporty with the raised and slightly rear-set footpegs

Things We Don't Like

  • The fuel efficiency is not that great compared to its rivals
  • The imbalance in suspension tuning makes it awkward to go through potholes
  • Can feel vibrations on the handlebar and footpegs after 80kmph

Jawa 350 Expert Review

BikeDekho Experts
A replacement for the Jawa 'Classic', this new Jawa 350 retains the iconic retro design of the original Jawas, and gets a larger, but less powerful engine that actually fixes all the refinement issues of the Jawa Classic. A great option for someone looking for a retro bike which offers peppy performance as well.

Overview

The Jawa 350 is a new motorcycle from the old-school bike maker that replaces the  Jawa standard, and it also gets a larger 334cc engine. With fully retro design and styling, the new bike closely resembles the iconic Jawa 250 that our grandfathers once rode.  Here’s how it rides in the real world.

Jawa 350 Review

Design

The Jawa 350 is able to get the retro styling right, even more so than other retro bikes. It comes with a design that is similar to the Jawa 250, and from afar it's hard to notice any differences. The bike gets a round headlight housed in a metallic cowl, with fork covers extending from it. The instrument console is enclosed in this metallic cowl that also houses the headlight and looks similar to the one that we have seen on old Jawa motorcycles.

Jawa 350 Design

The fuel tank is a teardrop shaped one and comes with a triple-tone finish. The centre portion is painted in different shades, on different colour variants, whereas the tank’s sides get chrome detailing and features the Jawa logo with 3 stripes. The chrome finish and golden pinstripes really add a lot to the overall premium feeling that the Jawa 350 offers.

Chrome detailing is not just limited to the tank, Jawa has given the engine and crankcase the chrome treatment and it adds a great deal to the retro appeal. The side panels feature a three-stripe pattern similar to what’s on the fuel tank. The rear fender also gets golden pinstripes and the twin exhausts are fully finished in Chrome. Overall, the Jawa 350 does manage to give off an authentic retro vibe with the styling and design.

Engine, Mileage & Performance

The Jawa 350 name might make one think that the bike comes with a 350cc engine, but in reality it is powered by a 334cc liquid-cooled, single cylinder engine. The engine has the same capacity as the one powering the Jawa Perak, but the tuning is very different and the motor makes less power, even lesser than the Jawa Standard.

Jawa 350 Engine

The lack of power might come as a letdown but the engine makes up for it with more torque. Another improvement is that both the power and torque now come at a lower rpm than before, making the bike more grunty and better suited to be a cruiser that can munch miles on the highway. The engine is also now a lot smoother than before, even smoother than the Perak now.

The changes have greatly improved the bike’s mid range performance, and cruising at speeds of 80-90kmph is effortless but this improvement comes at the cost of its top-end vibrations start creeping in on the handlebars, tank and footpegs once the bike crosses 100kmph.

Handling & Ride Quality

The Jawa 350 comes with a new chassis, suspension and tyres. These changes have really made the riding experience very different from what we had experienced on the Jawa standard. The taller front fork and longer rear shock absorbers have made the bike lean into corners more easily and the longer wheelbase combined with the higher kerb weight of 194kg (9kg more than before) has made the bike feel more stable.

Jawa 350 Suspension
The front suspension is plush and can easily handle most bumps and potholes but the rear comes off as a bit too stiff. The change in suspension has also given the bike a bit more ground clearance, 178mm making it better equipped to deal with bad roads than before.

Jawa 350 Brakes
The brakes now have more bite and getting the bike to a stop doesn’t require too much effort on the brake levers from the rider’s side. Jawa has also brought in dual-channel ABS as standard which is a welcome addition.

Comfort

The new seat on the Jawa 350 contributes greatly to its comfort. The seat is large and can accommodate riders of all sizes without much trouble. The cushioning is also great and it allows riders to go on both short commutes in the city and long rides on the highway without having to worry about discomfort.

Features

The Jawa 350 doesn’t get much in terms of features, it gets a simple analogue unit with a digital inset. The console is hard to read as the placement feels weird, it faces upwards and in direct sunlight there isn’t much visibility. The speedometer shows readings in a clockwise fashion with the dial moving from right to left.

Jawa 350 Instrument Console

The digital inset is quite small and the numbers are not clearly visible. Jawa has tried to make the bike more authentic by using the same setup that was found on the old Jawa 250 but it's hard to deny that this comes at the expense of practicality overall.

Should you buy

The Jawa 350 has undergone major improvements when compared to the Jawa standard, the changes in terms of performance and underpinnings have changed the bike’s riding characteristics and made it more of a retro roadster. If you are someone who is looking for a retro roadster that comes with both decent performance and has a rich legacy then the Jawa 350 will be a good choice.
