Rugged-looking scooter packs more power than the Yamaha Aerox 155

After teasing it multiple times, Honda has finally launched the ADV160 in Indonesia. The scooter replaces  the ADV150 in the South East Asian market.

The ADV160 takes styling cues from the ADV150 as it gets twin-pod LED headlights with LED DRLs. A big windscreen along with a sharp nose give the scooter a rugged look. The only changed bits are a bigger windscreen, some body panels and a larger boot. You still get a USB charging port inside the front apron.

At the heart of the ADV160 is the PCX160’s 156.9cc liquid-cooled engine that makes 16PS and 14.7Nm, which is 1.5PS and 0.9Nm more than the Honda ADV150. It, in fact, makes 1PS and 0.8Nm more than the Yamaha Aerox 155 as well.

As for the underpinnings, the adventure scooter gets petal disc brakes at both ends with a 240 mm rotor at the front and a 220mm one at the rear. Suspension duties are handled by a telescopic fork along with twin shock absorbers.

Staying true to the ‘adventure’ name, Honda ADV 160 gets dual-purpose AT tyres, with a 14-inch wheel at the front and 13-inch at the rear. That said, the fact that they’re alloys indicates the scooter’s tarmac bias.

The instrument cluster on this ADV scooter is a fully digital one along with backlighting. Unfortunately, it misses out on navigation. The low 785mm seat coupled with the massive 30-litre underseat storage make it quite a practical scooter too. Making your daily commutes safer is a traction control system on the top-end variant.

Available in six colours, the Honda ADV160 retails at IDR 36 Million (approximately Rs 1.90 lakh) for the CBS (Combined Braking System) variant and for IDR 39.25 Million (approximately Rs 2.07 lakh) for the dual-channel ABS variant.

In related news, the Honda Benly e was spotted testing recently. You can read all about it here.
