5 Peugeot Scooters We Would Like To See In India
Peugeot got our hopes up after the Django 125 was spied testing in India again
India with its vast two-wheeler market, presents both opportunities and challenges for international scooter brands. Peugeot's range of scooters: the Django 125 Classic, Django 125 Sport, XP400 GT, Tweet 125, and Pulsion 125, each brings unique features that could cater to different segments of the Indian market.
Django 125 Classic
The Django 125 Classic offers a retro design with modern features, appealing to those looking for a stylish and efficient scooter. The 125cc, liquid-cooled engine that produces 11.45PS and 11.2Nm should make it suitable for daily commutes, especially in urban areas. However, Peugeot would need to carefully position this model in India, as the market is dominated by well-established brands offering similar performance. It was also recently seen testing again, and likely be the first Peugeot scooter that will come to India through Mahinda 2-Wheelers.
Django 125 Sport
The Django 125 Sport has a sportier design, weighs less and is performance oriented. The Sport uses the same 125cc, single-cylinder engine from the Classic, but with a more powerful state of tune, making 12.9PS and 12Nm. The key challenge would be competing with other 125cc scooters from brands like Suzuki, Honda and TVS, which already have strong market presence.
XP400 GT
The XP400 GT with a 400cc engine that makes 36PS and 38.1Nm, would cater to a very small segment of riders looking for a powerful, touring scooter. It could appeal to those who would prefer motorcycle-like performance for longer commutes or weekend rides. However, India’s two-wheeler market still leans heavily toward smaller, more affordable and efficient scooters, so the XP400 GT’s higher price and larger engine might limit its appeal.
Tweet 125
The Tweet 125 is a practical scooter designed for urban commuting, and its step-through scooter like design with larger 16-inch wheels may not be to everyone’s liking. The Tweet uses a simpler, air-cooled 125cc single-cylinder engine that makes 11.5PS and 10.3Nm. And like the other 125cc’s from the brand, it also uses a LCD display screen.
Pulsion 125
The Pulsion 125 is a maxi-scooter that comes equipped with features like a LCD screen and ABS, appealing to those seeking a more premium scooter. It again uses the same engine as the Django Classic & Sport, but in a different state of tune, making 14.41PS and 12.4Nm.
BikeDekho Says
While Peugeot’s scooters bring a mix of style, performance, and modern features, their success in India would depend on how well Mahindra 2-Wheelers is able to manage competitive pricing, brand recognition, and after-sales service.
