It seems like DSK Benelli is planning on more than just superbikes for the Indian two-wheeler market. Seeing the growth of the scooter segment, the company is reportedly working on a 150cc scooter which was spotted testing some time back. To be named as the Benelli Cafenero, the upcoming scooter is most likely to hit the market by the end of this year. Earlier this month, its Italian counterpart, Piaggio started the production of the Aprilia SR150 which will make its market debut in August this year.

The Benelli Cafenero 150 is powered by a 150cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled engine which is expected to produce around 13bhp of power and 13.3Nm of torque and will be coupled to a CVT automatic gearbox. Built around a triangular trellis frame, the scooter boasts of 35mm telescopic forks up front and a 5-way adjustable suspension system at the rear. The scooter not only offers a bold styling but also flaunts large windscreen and disc brakes on both wheels. A fat muffler makes the scooter stand out from its competition.

DSK Motowheels is doing pretty well with the Benelli brand in India. Apart from the Cafenero, the company is ready to launch two new motorcycles during the year. The first motorcycle is named as the Tornado 302, which happens to be the company’s first fully faired machine after the Tornado 1130, which came out in 2003. The second motorcycle from the Benelli will be an adventure tourer, the TRK 502.
