The Kawasaki Ninja 1000 has long been one of India’s top-rated faired sport motorcycles, praised for its refined four-cylinder engine and comfortable suspension and riding position. It has also been a strong seller for Kawasaki in the country. Now, a new model is set to replace it: the Ninja 1100SX, which will launch in India within the next two weeks.
Engine Details
The main update with the Ninja 1100SX is the shift to a larger 1099cc engine, up from the previous 1043cc. Despite the larger engine, peak power has decreased by 4PS, dropping to 137.8PS, while torque increases by 2Nm to 113Nm.
More importantly, peak power and torque arrive at slightly lower revs, offering smoother and more relaxed performance. Additionally, Kawasaki has lengthened the gearing in 5th and 6th gears to enhance comfort during long-distance touring.
Other Changes
Other mechanical upgrades include refinements to the bi-directional quickshifter for better low-RPM performance and claims of improved fuel efficiency. The bike also transitions from Bridgestone S22 tires to the newer S23 compound. Visually, the Ninja 1100SX is almost identical to the Ninja 1000SX.
Features
It retains the same electronics package, including riding modes, power modes, traction control, ABS, bidirectional quickshifter, and electronic cruise control. The new addition is a handlebar-mounted USB Type C port.
Price Details
Expect the Ninja 1100SX to carry a price increase over the previous Ninja 1000, which was last priced at Rs 12.19 lakh (ex-showroom) before being removed from the company’s website. Kawasaki will initially offer only the standard Ninja 1100SX, with no plans to introduce the higher-spec SE variant featuring Brembo M4.32 front brakes and an Öhlins rear shock.
