Here’s a detailed look at Ducati’s flagship ADV bike which has been launched in India
Ducati’s flagship adventure bike, the Multistrada V4, is finally here. Let’s take a closer look at it:
Design
The Multistrada V4 might look like any other Multistrada from a distance, thanks to its tall stance, windscreen, and signature beak-like air intakes. But there’s plenty different here.
Starting from the front, you get a sleek twin-pod LED headlamp with Panigale-style LED DRLs, making it more aggressive than the previous bikes in the lineup.
Also part of the headlamp unit is the front radar, which might look a little odd to some. We feel it's tucked away pretty neatly, though.
You get large fish gill-type vents and winglets on the side bodywork to help dissipate heat.
Compared to the Multistrada 1260, this one misses out on side panels and instead flaunts its red rear sub-frame.
Rounding off the design is the conventional-looking tail end. However, the Panigale-styled LEDs in the taillight amp up the tail end.

Being a Ducati, one would expect nothing but tonnes of tech from the Multistrada V4. And boy, does it deliver! For starters, you get a 5-inch TFT instrument cluster (on the STD variant) to toggle between cornering ABS, bi-directional quickshifter, Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), Ducati Traction Control (DTC) and riding modes.
Meanwhile, if you opt for the V4 S variant, you get Ducati’s semi-active Skyhook suspension, vehicle hold control, radar-guided cruise control, and blind spot detection. All these are accessible via a bigger 6.5-inch TFT unit.
Also part of the package is a sly fuel-tank mounted cubby storage space to hold your essentials.
Motor
All this aside, the highlight of the Multistrada V4 is its heart. It is powered by an all-new BS6-compliant 1,158cc V4 Granturismo engine, which is lighter and more powerful than the previous L-Twin setup. Putting out 172PS and 125Nm, the Multistrada V4 can easily zoom past its less powerful arch-rivals, the BMW R 1250 GS and the Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250.
Furthermore, Ducati claims the new V4 motor needs an oil change every 15,000km and a valve clearance check every 60,000km, which is commendable.
Underpinnings
The Multistrada V4 is built around an aluminium monocoque chassis sprung on a fully adjustable 50mm USD fork and monoshock. The V4 S, being the more premium variant, gets Ducati’s semi-active Skyhook suspension that automatically adapts to load variations.
Anchoring the bike are 330mm twin discs up front with Brembo M4 calipers and a 265mm disc at the rear, also with a Brembo caliper.
Surprisingly, the Multistrada V4 is pretty easy to hop on as well, thanks to its 840mm seat height. And once on it, you can ride away without worrying about fuel stops; the bike has a big 22-litre fuel tank after all.
The standard Multistrada V4 retails at Rs 18.99 lakh, while the V4 S costs Rs 23.10 lakh and Rs 23.30 lakh for the red and grey liveries, respectively. All prices are ex-showroom India.
