Honda Activa 6G Details Revealed

Modified On May 6, 2019 11:50 AM By Praveen M. for Honda Activa 6G

UPDATE: Honda has launched the Activa 6G in two variants, and you can read more about it here.

The 110cc scooter will reportedly get connectivity features

Expect the upcoming scooter to feature an external fuel filler. The engine will be updated to meet BS6 emission norms. Honda is likely to launch the scooter at the 2020 Auto Expo.

In an interaction with Autocar Professional, Honda Motorcycle And Scooter India (HMSI) disclosed various details about the Honda Activa 6G. Set to be equipped with new connectivity features, we expect the 110cc scooter to get turn-by-turn navigation and call alert features like the TVS NTorq 125.

We’d also like the upcoming scooter to feature an external fuel filler cap. None of the scooters from Honda get this feature at present. Honda could also equip the next-generation Activa with 12-inch alloy wheels and a front disc brake as an option.

While the 110cc Honda Activa has always featured an old-school, trailing link front suspension since its first generation, we believe this could change in the new iteration. A pair of telescopic forks will not only help improve the ride quality but also make the scooter feel much more stable on bad roads.

And since BS6 emission norms are set to kick into effect on 1 April 2020, expect the manufacturer to update the 110cc engine to meet the new regulations. To do this, Honda could equip the engine with fuel injection without sacrificing on performance. The Japanese brand is likely to launch the new Activas 6G at the 2020 Auto Expo. When launched, it will compete with the TVS Jupiter, Yamaha Fascino and the Hero Maestro Edge.

These changes are likely to lead to a price hike of Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 over the outgoing version. At present, the Activa 5G costs Rs 54,632 (ex-showroom Delhi) for the base variant. In related news, Honda also revealed that most of its portfolio will witness a complete overhaul, including the chassis and the engine, in preparation for the upcoming emission norms. So expect Honda to reveal an all-new lineup at next year’s Auto Expo. Exciting times indeed!
