Modified On May 6, 2024 05:45 PM By Govind for Bajaj Chetak [2020 - 2024]

Bajaj is also planning to launch 1 Chetak every year from now

Rajiv Bajaj in a recent interview revealed quite a bit about Bajaj Auto’s plans for the Bajaj Chetak lineup. He first confirmed that the manufacturer is planning on launching the more affordable variant of the Chetak this month. Additionally, he also revealed the brand’s plans for the Chetak portfolio.

The manufacturer is planning on bringing one new Chetak every year from now and could include both smaller battery capacity Chetaks and larger capacity ones. He stated that “...next year, we have something distinctly different, it's not just another refresh on the existing Chetak, but a new platform itself”. So the Chetak coming next year will be based on a new platform.

In the interview Rajiv Bajaj also said, “We are also about to launch another Chetak this month” and this  variant will likely be the most affordable one in the Chetak lineup. The upcoming variant was spotted testing recently and the spy shots revealed a lot about the electric scooter and what we can expect.

We expect it to be a detuned version of the base Chetak. For perspective base Chetak comes with a 2.9kWh lithium-ion battery pack in the Urbane variant and has a ARAI-certified range of 113km. We can expect it to come with a bit lower battery capacity and range. It will likely be priced at around the Rs 1 lakh mark, ex-showroom. It will go up against electric scooters like the TVS iQube, Ather 450S and Ola S1 X.
