TVS Jupiter CNG VS iQube Electric Scooter: Running Cost Comparison

Our curiosity made us compare the running cost of the Jupiter CNG with the TVS iQube (2.2kWh) electric scooter

TVS Motor Company unveiled the Jupiter CNG concept, the first CNG-powered scooter in the world, at Auto Expo 2025. The manufacturer also revealed most of the important specifications of the scooter. We got curious and that made us compare the running cost of the Jupiter CNG with the base TVS iQube 2.2kWh electric scooter. 

The TVS Jupiter CNG scooter is powered by a 124.8cc, single-cylinder engine which produces 7.2PS and 9.4Nm. It has a 1.4kg CNG tank which is claimed to deliver a mileage of 84km per kg of CNG and a range of 117.6km. It also has a 2-litre petrol tank and gives a claimed mileage of 71kmpl and a claimed range of 142km. This setup provides a total range of about 226km.


On the other hand, the TVS iQube (2.2kWh) comes with a 2.2kWh battery pack delivering a claimed range of 75km per charge. It is priced at Rs 1,07,299 (ex-showroom).

Comparing the Running Costs

We got the specification details of both of our contenders. Now, let’s move on to the fun part - calculating the running costs of TVS Jupiter CNG and the TVS iQube (2.2kWh):

TVS Jupiter CNG Running Cost: With an average petrol price of Rs 103 per litre and CNG price of Rs 82.5 per kg, the TVS Jupiter CNG resulted in a running cost of Rs 1.42 per kilometre.

TVS iQube 2.2kWh Running Cost: Based on an average electricity cost of Rs 8 per unit, the TVS iQube offers a running cost of Rs 0.23 per kilometre.

Running Cost Difference: Rs 1.19 per kilometre

With a huge difference of Rs 1.19 per kilometre, the TVS iQube will clearly help you save a lot of money on a daily basis, but will also require more than 2 hours to charge from 0 to 100 percent. On the other hand, the TVS Jupiter CNG offers a middle point between petrol and electric scooters. With quick fueling, it offers the convenience of a petrol-powered scooter but also helps you save some money as compared to the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) scooter.
