Hero XPulse 200 Summary

The upcoming Hero XPulse 210 and the upcoming XPulse 400 have been spied testing together at Khardungla top.  Hero has recently launched the Xpulse 200 4V Pro Dakar Edition in India.

Hero XPulse 200 4V Price

The Hero XPulse 200 4V is on sale in India in three variants: Standard, Pro and Dakar Edition. The Standard variant is priced at Rs 1,51,500 and is available in three colours: Black-Sports Red, Met Nexus Blue White, and Techno Blue Met Blk. Meanwhile, the Pro variant is priced at Rs 1,64,500 and is available in a single Pearl Fadeless White colour option. Hero XPulse 200 4V Engine

Powering the Hero XPulse 200 4V is a BS6.2-compliant single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled 4-valve, 199.6cc engine, which delivers a maximum power output of 19.1PS at 8500rpm and a maximum torque of 17.35Nm at 6500rpm. Paired with a 5-speed transmission, this engine's four-valve construction ensures more optimal air-fuel intake for smoother power delivery and better combustion efficiency than a 2-valve engine.

The real-world mileage tests indicate Hero XPulse 200T 4V delivers 51.59kmpl in city conditions and 42.28kmpl on the highway.

Hero XPulse 200 4V Suspension & Brakes

The Standard variant of Hero XPulse 200 4V has a telescopic fork (with 190mm wheel travel) at the front and a mono-shock with a 10-step adjustable pre-load (with 170mm wheel travel) at the rear. Meanwhile, the Pro and the Dakar Edition variants gets longer travel suspension - 250mm at the front and 220mm at the rear, with the fork being adjustable for compression and rebound damping. Braking is via a 276mm petal disc at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear. The Hero XPulse 200 4V has a 21-inch front and 18-inch spoke wheels that have off-road-oriented tubed tyres - 90/90 at the front and 120/80 at the rear.

The XPulse 200 4V being an off-road-centric motorcycle gets a significant ground clearance for both variants - 220mm for the Standard and 270mm for the other two varinats. Also, while the Standard variant has a seat height of 825mm, the Pro and Dakar Edition variants have a seat height of 891mm. All the variants of the XPulse 200 4V have a single-channel ABS as standard with three ABS modes - Road, Off-road and Rally, which vary their sensitivity levels depending on the mode.

Hero XPulse 200 4V Key Features

The Hero XPulse 200 4V gets a Bluetooth-enabled digital instrument console with turn-by-turn navigation. This full-LCD unit has a speedometer, tachometer, trip-meter readings, real-time mileage, Eco mode, and gear position, among other data.

In the latest update, the Hero XPulse 200 4V got a revised all-LED headlamp with LED DRLs, a higher-capacity console-mounted USB port, and closed-loop handlebar knuckle guards. In addition to these features, the Pro and the Dakar Edition variant also get a taller seat, handlebar riser, longer, longer travel suspension with greater ground clearance, longer side stand, and extended gear lever for easier off-roading.

Hero XPulse 200 4V Rivals

While the Hero XPulse 200 4V has no direct rival, it is a cheaper but less powerful alternative to other, more premium adventure tourers like KTM 250 Adventure, Suzuki V-Strom SX, and Royal Enfield Himalayan 450.

XPulse 200 4V Expert Review

BikeDekho Experts
The XPulse 200 excels at being a great entry point into the world of off-roading. However, if your primary focus is on touring and covering long distances at high speeds, the XPulse might not be the ideal choice, for it's not really made for the highways. But other than that, it gets decent performance for going off-road as well as riding in the city along with a comfortable riding posture. And its overall appeal is further enhanced by the affordable price tag of Rs 1,45,776 (ex-showroom Delhi).

Overview

Hero XPulse 200 4V Road Test Review

Hero MotoCorp’s 200cc ADV, the Xpulse 200, is the perfect choice for people getting into adventure biking and also a fitting choice for experienced enthusiasts as well. With the Xpulse 200 4V, the manufacturer has updated the bike with 2 more valves, improved performance from the motor, revised switchgear and more.

Design

The Hero Xpulse 200 4V’s design is very similar to that of the 2V model. This time around, it gets a more powerful LED headlight which increases visibility at night by a lot. It gets an LCD instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity through the Hero Connect app for turn-by-turn navigation and a USB port within the instrument console.

The quality of the switches in the revised switchgear is a let down though and it dampens the overall riding experience quite a bit.

Engine, Mileage & Performance

Hero MotoCorp has given the 199.6cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor two extra valves, made revisions to the gear ratios and a 45-tooth rear sprocket. The 1st, 4th and 5th gears are now taller and 2nd and 3rd gears are now shorter. All these have resulted in the Xpulse 200 4V being more spirited and you don’t have to constantly keep changing gears to get the right amount of torque to tackle off-road surfaces.

The effects of the changes can be felt in the city as well, as the wider torque band lets you ride in the city comfortably in 4th gear. The fuel efficiency has improved as well with a city mileage of 51.59kmpl. On the highway, the bike reaches speeds of 85-90kmph quicker than the 2V model and while it can reach speeds of 110-115kmph, the engine feels strained at that point. So, between 85-95kmph, the Xpulse 200 4V feels comfortable and you can easily overtake slow moving vehicles without needing to downshift.

Handling & Ride Quality

Hero has also made changes to the suspension tuning by making the initial stroke of the long travel suspension softer. This allows the bike to remain planted and you don’t get tossed around that much. For experienced off-road enthusiasts, there is a Rally Kit to opt for with a much more sophisticated suspension setup that gives you longer travel and full adjustability. But this does come at the cost of a significantly increased seat height though.

The seat profile and the foam in the seat have been changed as well, which helps in keeping you comfortable over long distances. The rider triangle feels a bit like a commuter though, considering it is an ADV.

    Xpulse Review
Nice bike. Everyone can keep hero Xpulse 200 4v as an option. Taller person can go for Xpulse 200 4v rally edition. And according to this price range. Vehicle performance is good and its a light weight rally bike as compared to royal enfield himalayan. And im owning Xpulse 200 4v standard edition. And its a good choice from my side.

    My experience of xpluse
Xpluse 200 4v I had purchased it on March 2021 since then I have taken it to every day to day activity. It is best for the beginner who planning to start their off road journey. Even it is good in city ride. Recommend for solo traveling as the seating is little hard on the pillion. As of the bike as came up with more value add features

A GOOD MOMENT WITH XPLUSE PRO
I buyed Xpluse pro which is called as rally edition and it's the best bike I have ever seen in Adventure bikes and the mileage is around 45kmph .. but you have to calculate the breaking with applying break because it's based on off-road so it's gets only single abs in front and over all bike is cool
