2017 KTM RC 390 And RC 200 India Launch On January 19th

The updated KTM RC range gets some updates along with new skins to look different and fresh.

We already reported you the details of the 2017 KTM RC range after its brochure leaked on the internet. Now, the company has sent us an official invite for its launch on January 19th, 2017. The event will be addressed by Rajiv Bajaj, managing director of Bajaj Auto, KTM's Indian partner, and it will witness the launch of both the new RC 390 and the RC 200.

The Austrian manufacturer showcased the new RC range at the 2016 Intermot in Germany last year but refused to disclose much detail about the updates in the new models. However, thanks to the leaked brochures, we have enough information to tell you. While both the bikes have received new paint schemes, the RC 390 is the only one to get significant mechanical updates.

Besides the new white-black livery with orange graphics, the 2017 RC 200 gets a Euro 4-compliant engine and 12mm extra soft padding on the pillion seat. While the updated motor continues to offer 25PS of power and 19.2Nm of torque at your hands, the bike gains 10kg extra, pushing the dry weight to 147.5kg.

On the other hand, the 2017 KTM RC 390 also receives a side-slung exhaust muffler in the bid to make its motor comply with the Euro 4 emission standards. This addition gives a new look to the bike, aided by a new black-orange paint scheme with white graphics. Another big update to the bike is a bigger 320mm front disc brake, instead of the 300mm unit it sported earlier. While the bigger disc endows the bike with better braking performance, the engine update makes it pump out 1Nm of extra torque. So, in its new guise, the 373.3cc single makes out 36Nm of peak torque, while the power output remains the same at 43.5PS.

Other features of both the KTM RC 390 and the RC 200 are expected to remain unchanged, such as the WP suspension setup with 43mm front inverted forks and rear monoshock. The bigger one will also continue with its advanced standard features, such as the dual-channel ABS, slipper clutch and ride-by-wire. The new updates might result in a slight increment of price of the bikes but that is not expected to be much for the smaller KTM.
