Here’s a more detailed look at India’s first BS6-compliant two-wheeler!

Honda has finally launched its first BS6-compliant two-wheeler, the 2019 Activa 125, in the country. Apart from the cleaner engine, the bike has a few interesting features to set it apart from its rivals and here’s a closer look at the scoter in detailed images:

Honda has retained the core design language of the scooter so that it is easier for prospective customers to familiarise with it. The chrome bits on the apron and side panels exude a premium feel too.

The headlamp and the DRLs are all-LED. However, the indicators are still bulb-type. Honda has also redesigned the apron slightly for a fresher look.

The scooter employs a telescopic fork up front and the mid-spec as well as the top-end variants feature alloy wheels. To keep costs under control, the base variant features steel wheels. The 12-inch front and 10-inch rear are wrapped with 90-section tubeless tyres.

The brand offers a 190mm disc brake up front in the Deluxe variant whereas the standard and alloy-wheel models get a drum unit. All the models feature CBS for optimum safety.

The scooter comes with a semi-digital instrument console. It shows the distance-to-empty, overall and real-time fuel efficiency, which are all  first-in-segment features in India.

The switchgear on the right comes with an electric starter button and a switch to toggle the Idling Stop System. For the uninitiated, this feature essentially works in the same principle as Hero MotoCorp’s Idle Stop Start System (i3S).

The left switchgear houses controls for the indicators, horn and low/high beam with pass beam function.

Honda has equipped the scooter with a 3-in-1 lock switch which can be used to open/close the seat and the fuel tank lid as well. Additionally, there’s an apron-mounted storage compartment on the left which can be used to store small items. You also get an apron hook for added practicality.

The long single-piece seat ends with a large grab rail. The leg-room appears to be decent enough for regular-sized riders. Interestingly, Honda has done away with the chrome exhaust heat shield and has replaced it with a blacked-out unit.

The underseat storage capacity stands at 18-litres, which isn’t all that great as its arch-rival, the Suzuki Access 125, offers 21.8 litres.

Fuelling up is convenient thanks to the external fuel filler, and the 2019 Activa 125 is the first Honda scooter to have this feature. The fuel tank capacity stands at 5.3 litres.

The scooter is powered by an all-new 124cc single-cylinder engine which is BS6-compliant. It produces 8.29PS at 6500rpm and 10.3Nm 5000rpm. This makes the new scooter 0.34PS less powerful than the older one.

The tail lamp has been redesigned to accommodate the external fuel filler, and it looks much bolder now. The ‘H’ shaped layout also offers a distinct identity to the scooter.
