Mechanically, the MT-09 remains the same as the previous model. It is powered by a three-cylinder, four-stroke motor producing 115PS power and 87.5Nm of torque at 8,500rpm. The 847cc engine is mated to a six-speed transmission. The MT-09 is equipped with upside down forks at the front with 41mm of travel and a swingarm monoshock setup at the rear. Stopping power comes from twin 298mm discs up front and a 245mm disc at the rear. In terms of features, the MT-09 is one of the most loaded mid-capacity streetfighters out there. It gets a slipper clutch, ride-by-wire, quick shifter, LED headlamps and a fully digital instrument cluster.
The MT-09 goes head to head with the Triumph Street Triple S, the Kawasaki Z900 and the Suzuki GSX-S750. While the Street Triple S retails at Rs 9.19 lakh, the Kawasaki Z900 and the Suzuki GSX-S750 costs Rs 7.68 lakh and Rs 7.45 lakh, respectively.
