Yamaha has introduced the MotoGP-inspired edition of the YZF-R15 Version 3.0, FZ25 and the Cygnus Ray ZR in India. While the limited edition R15 V3 is priced at Rs 1,42,780, the FZ25 costs Rs 1,36,680. This makes the two bikes dearer than their standard colour variants by Rs 2,500.
On the other hand, the MotoGP edition of the Cygnus Ray ZR is priced at Rs 59,028, which is a premium of just Rs 1,500 over the standard disc brake-equipped version. The drum brake variant does not come with the new colour option.
This is the second time that the Yamaha YZF-R15 Version 3.0 has received a MotoGP-inspired variant. The faired bike received the first MotoGP-inspired paint job back in August 2018. While the older model received Movistar stickers with blue livery, the 2019 iteration comes with a darker black theme with blue highlights on the bodywork with Monster Energy stickers. That’s because in 2018, the official sponsor was Movistar whereas now it’s Monster Energy.
As for the FZ25 and Ray ZR, this is the first time Yamaha has offered a sporty livery on any of its two-wheelers sold in India other than the R15. The Ray ZR, in particular, is reminiscent of the pit bikes which Yamaha uses at the MotoGP races! Apart from the cosmetic changes, the two-wheelers remain mechanically unchanged. Yamaha also offers a “Racing branded” tee along with the the MotoGP edition model. Here’s Yamaha’s official statement regarding the launch:
