Hero Splendor Plus: Highest vs Lowest Mileage

The results from our tests are just INSANE!

The Hero Splendor Plus stands out as India’s most famous commuter motorcycle. It has been the country’s highest selling bike consistently for many years now. This popularity comes down to the Splendor’s low maintenance costs and most importantly, amazing mileage. We put the bike to a test to see how high and low the Splendor’s mileage can truly go.

For this test we rode the Splendor at speeds of 25-30kmph in the city and 50kmph on the highway. The test included a mix of 40 per cent highway and 60 per cent city riding. We covered a distance of 50km and over the course of the trip, the bike consumed 0.41 litres of fuel.

This means that for 1 litre, the Hero Splendor Plus can return a mileage of 125kmpl. This means the bike can easily cover a distance of 1225km! Which is more than enough to travel from Mumbai to Goa and back in just one tank of fuel! But that’s only if you are willing to ride at about 50kmph all the time on the highway.

The Lowest Mileage

The 125kmpl mileage at low speeds is surely impressive, but let's be real. Not all of us ride that way and there are some cases where we have to travel at higher speeds. To see how low the Splendor Plus mileage can go, we tested the bike again. Here’s the breakdown of our results in a reel.

For this test, we rode the bike at the highest possible speeds. The distance covered was the same 50km under mixed riding conditions. This time, the bike consumed 1.18 litres of petrol, which translates to a mileage of 43.47kmpl. 

This is still an impressive number and is more than what a good chunk of motorcycles in the market can offer. So overall, in terms of mileage, the Splendor Plus is still king.
