22Kymco iFlow Launched In India At Rs 90,000 (On-road Delhi)

Modified On Jun 12, 2019 01:51 PM By Gaurav Sadanand for 22Kymco iFlow

The e-scooter has a claimed top speed of 60kmph

The iFlow benefits from Kymco’s IONEX swappable batteries. Notable features include Bluetooth-compatible digital instrument console, LED lights and two riding modes amongst others. 22Kymco is currently working on setting up its charging infrastructure in major cities. The brand will begin operations in cities like New Delhi, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Ahmedabad.

The 22Kymco iFlow has been launched in India at a price of Rs 90,000 (on-road Delhi). The brand will be manufacturing the scooter locally which has resulted in a competitive price tag. What’s more? The iFlow has been slightly tweaked for the Indian two-wheeler market and gets features like LED turn signals, LED tail light, projector headlamp and a digital instrument console with Bluetooth and Could connectivity feature.

Thanks to the partnership between 22 Motors and Kymco, the former has access to Kymco’s IONEX swappable battery technology. To elaborate, the iFlow features two empty slots for portable batteries at the time of purchase and customers are required to lease at least one swappable battery for a monthly charge of Rs 500. You could also opt for a second unit, if need be, but that would set you back by yet another Rs 500 per month.

Why is this necessary, you ask? To put it simply, this gives you the flexibility to swap either or both the batteries in case you run out of juice. In order to do so, you could just head to the nearest battery swapping stations set up by the company and exchange the drained battery for a fresh fully charged one. Convenient ain't it?

However, there is a catch! You’ll have to shell out Rs 50 every time you swap the battery. While the switch costs you money, the process completely eliminates the time spent in charging the scooter battery. Of course, it goes without saying that there’s no service charge if you intend to charge the battery yourself. However, you’d be looking at a monthly running cost of Rs 500 plus electricity charges.

22Kymco is currently working on setting up an electric infrastructure in the country. This consists of the aforementioned battery swapping stations placed in convenient locations in most major cities. The initial phase targets cities like New Delhi, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Ahmedabad. Post this, the manufacturer will work on setting up close to 300 dealerships across India over a span of three years.

In terms of performance, the iFlow is powered by a 2.1KW motor, capable of pushing the iFlow to a claimed top speed of 60kmph. It comes with three riding modes: Cruise, Drag mode and a Reverse assist mode. Interestingly, the scooter features regenerative braking assist which charges a small percentage of your battery every time you hit the breaks.

On the mechanical front, the iFlow uses telescopic forks and a twin shock absorber setup at the rear. Anchoring the scooter are disc brakes at both ends paired with CBS (combined braking system) on 12-inch wheels shod with tubeless tyres.

The 22Kymco iFlow will go on sale in September 2019 and rival the Ather 450 and the Okinawa i-Praise.
