5 Things You Need To Know About The New TVS NTorq 125 XT Variant
Tonnes of new connected features, new colour scheme and wheels, here’s all that it gets
TVS has launched a new, more feature-packed XT variant of its 125cc sporty scooter, the NTorq 125. The XT variant is the top-of-the-line model and sits above the RaceXP variant. Here is all that you need to know about the NTorq 125 XT.
Features
First things first, the XT flaunts a new industry-first hybrid split TFT and LCD digital instrument cluster with the new TVS SmartXonnect. It features a dedicated screen for the Race Mode, with lap timer, top speed indicator, and a 0-60kmph timer. It packs a silent starter and IntelliGO technology (start-stop tech).
It also gets a SmartXtalk voice assistant that can be used to control modes, screen brightness, music and navigation. Additionally, the rider gets plenty of information including warnings for low fuel, fuel wastage, rain and low phone battery through audio feedback.
Other features carried over from the Race Edition variant include Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, USB charging socket, underseat LED light and two display modes: Street and Sport.
Design
In terms of appearance, the XT variant retains the aggressive body design and sporty styling as the other variants, however, it does get a new dual tone Neon Green paint scheme with slightly updated graphics. The cosmetic updates on the NTorq 125 XT make it stand apart from the other variants.
Powertrain & Underpinnings
Powering the NTorq 125 XT is a 124.8cc, 3-valve, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces the same 9.3PS and 10.5Nm as the Race Edition variant. The power output, however, is less than RaceXP’s 10.2PS and 10.8Nm. Consequently, it also lacks riding modes.
It is suspended on the same telescopic fork up front and a monoshock at the rear. The scooter is anchored by a disc in the front and a drum brake in the back. However, the XT variant rolls on new lighter and sportier black alloys.
Rivals
Rivalling the NTorq 125 are other 125cc sporty scooter offerings in India like the Suzuki Avenis (Rs 88,300), Honda Grazia 125 (Rs 88,500), Yamaha RayZR 125 Street Rally (Rs 84,830) and Aprilia SR 125 (Rs 1,08,965), all prices ex-showroom Delhi.
Price
The TVS NTorq 125 XT variant is priced at Rs 1,02,823 (ex-showroom Delhi). It commands a premium of Rs 13,612 over the RaceXP variant and Rs 17,662 over the Race Edition Variant, on which it is based.
The premium compared to what you get seems expensive considering that there are only a bunch of new features, most of which can simply be accessed through a smartphone. We wish TVS had at least equipped the scooter with the Race XP’s engine, as it would’ve justified the premium to an extent. And, at the end of the day, you’ll still be paying over Rs 1 lakh for what’s essentially a 125cc scooter.
