Aprilia SR GT 200 VS Yamaha Aerox 155: Photo Comparison
Comparing the newly unveiled Italian ADV scooter to one of the fastest scooters in India via images. Here’s how it goes
Aprilia seems to be going all guns blazing considering its product launches. The Italian automaker recently launched the new SR 125 and the SR 160 in the Indian market, and now the company has unveiled the SR GT at the ongoing 2021 EICMA auto show in Milan, Italy. While in India where we have very few scooters powered by 150cc engines and above, Yamaha's Aerox 155 is the one that seems to have the capability to stand toe-to-toe with the SR-GT 200. Let's find out how they fare via images.
While the Aprilia SR GT gets a sleek and tall stance (thanks to its long-travel suspension and slim body styling), the Yamaha Aerox 155 looks quite sharp and sporty because of its streamlined design.
The fascia of both scooters look quite alien-ish, as the SR GT gets a tri-LED headlight while the Aerox 155 gets a split-type LED setup with LED DRLs. While both scooters are offered with windscreens up front, the Aprilia SR GT’s taller one goes better with its ADV credentials.
On the features front, the SR GT gets all LED lights, a 25-litre underseat storage space, a start-stop system, a frontal USB charging port, dual-purpose tyres, and an LCD instrument cluster with optional Bluetooth connectivity. The Aerox 155, meanwhile, features an idle-stop/start system, silent engine start, a step-up-type seat, a front pocket with a USB charging port, side stand engine cut-off, a 5.8-inch fully digital instrument cluster and Bluetooth connectivity as standard.
While the Aprilia SR GT is powered by a 174cc engine that churns out 17.6PS and 16.5Nm, the Aerox 155 draws power from a 155cc liquid-cooled engine assisted by VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) delivering 15PS and 13.9Nm. Now, as the Aprilia SR GT is more powerful, it claims to deliver fuel efficiency of 38.5kmpl. Meanwhile, in our road test, the Aerox 155 delivered a mileage of 48.625kmpl on the highway and 42.26kmpl in the city - impressive for a performance-oriented scooter, we say!
The ride of the Aprilia SR 160 is taken care of by a Showa-sourced 33mm telescopic fork with 122mm travel and twin shocks with 102mm travel at the rear. On the other hand, the suspension duty of the Yamaha Aerox 155 is handled by a slimmer 26mm telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers at the rear.
There's also a difference in the braking hardware of both scooters. The SR GT mounts a 260mm/220mm (front/rear)disc setup at both ends, while the Aerox 155 employs a 230mm disc at the front, and a 130mm drum at the rear. Meanwhile, both scooters come with single-channel ABS as standard.
As the Aprilia SR GT comes with long-travel suspension, it boasts a ground clearance of 175mm. Meanwhile, the Yamaha Aerox 155, being more of a street-oriented performance scooter, gets a ground clearance of 145mm. The Aprilia SR GT rides on a 14-13-inch alloy wheel setup, while the Yamaha Aerox 155 mounts 14-inch alloys at both ends.
The Aprilia SR GT will be available in a total of six colour options (Red, Black, Blue, Gold, Street Grey and Iridium Grey) and as it was just unveiled, we are yet to know its pricing. That said, we reckon it'll be on the premium side, perhaps much higher than the India-spec Aerox 155. To give you a perspective, the Aprilia SXR50 itself retails at GBP 2,400 (around 2.38 lakh) in the UK! On the other hand, the Yamaha Aerox 155 is available in three colours: Racing Blue, Grey Vermillion, and Monster Energy, and is priced at Rs 1.29 lakh and 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), respectively, for the standard and MotoGP edition.
