Aprilia SR GT Adventure Scooter Range Unveiled At EICMA 2021

Modified On Nov 23, 2021 06:56 PM By Manaal Mahatme for Aprilia SR 125

The Italian bike maker is ready to take the fight to the Honda ADV150

Hot on the heels of the launch of the 2021 Aprilia SR 125 in India, the Italian bike maker has pulled the veils off the 2022 Aprilia SR GT at the 2021 EICMA show in Milan, Italy. This moto-scooter will be available as SR GT 125 and SR GT 200, aimed to take on the new breed of ADV-style scooters like the Honda ADV150.

The styling is similar to its competitors --  the overall stance is very ADV-like. Then there’s the rugged-looking footboard designed to emulate the bashplate of an ADV. Up front, you see the familiar three-piece LED headlight unit, which, along with the tall windscreen, makes the fascia look similar to the Aprilia Caponord 1200 adventure tourer.

The Aprilia SR GT 125 will use a 124cc single-cylinder 3-valve engine that produces 15PS and 12Nm. The new 175cc engine from the SR GT 200 develops 17.6PS at 8500rpm and 16.5Nm at 7000rpm. Aprilia has even equipped these scooters with the idle start/stop system.

The company has used a double-cradle frame for the SR GT and developed new long-travel suspension specifically for this model. The SR GT rides on 33mm Showa fork offering 122mm travel and 5-step adjustable Showa dual shocks with 102mm travel. Unlike the SR twins which flaunt 14-inch rims at both ends, the SR GT twins feature a 14-inch front rim and a 13-inch unit at the rear. For braking, Aprilia has used a 260mm disc up front and a 220mm disc at the rear.  You also get an option to equip the scooter with petal discs.

Completing the package is its respectable ground clearance of 175mm, a 9-litre fuel tank, and a big 25-litre underseat storage space. The Aprilia SR GT features the same instrument console as the Aprilia SXR 160 and the Aprilia SR 125, only that it's negative-lit now. And just like its siblings, Bluetooth connectivity is optional.

The Aprilia SR GT will go on sale in select markets soon. However, there is no word on its India debut yet. But given the unique proposition of this scooter, we’d definitely like to see it on our roads.
