Ather 450X vs Honda Activa 6G: Specifications & Features Compared
Though the scooters are poles apart, both serve the same purpose at different costs
Thanks to the sky-high fuel prices and government subsidies on EVs in India, electric scooters have gained massive popularity lately. One of the most feature-packed electric offerings sold here, the Ather 450 twins even saw a significant price cut in Maharashtra recently.
Talking of popularity, the Honda Activa range has enjoyed the top spot among petrol scooters for a long time.
Of course, both scooters are poles apart, but they serve the same purpose - easy and practical commute. So, we decided to pit the EV against the ICE and find out which one made more sense.

The two powerhouses cannot be compared for obvious reasons. However, it’s fair to claim that the Ather 450X will certainly be faster off the line, thanks to the instantly available torque from its electric motor. On the highway, the Ather 450X’s speeds would have to be moderated as otherwise, the battery would drain quicker, affecting the overall range. Whereas, the Activa 6G would see a marginal drop in fuel efficiency in a similar scenario.

Weird Flex: Meet Pan China, The Affordable Alternative To The Pan America 1250While the Ather 450X can do up to 91.4km (tested), the Activa 6G should do upwards of 300km with its 5.3-litre fuel tank. Not just that, you’d spend a lot of time charging the Ather 450X while it’d barely take a couple of minutes to refuel the Honda. For reference, even with the fast charger, it takes around 45 minutes to charge the Ather 450X from 23-92 percent.

Both scooters use similar suspension, more or less, but the Activa 6G gets a slightly better rear spring with 3-step adjustability. While that’s on paper, probably no Activa owner would actually fiddle with the setting in the real world.
On the safety front, the Ather 450X takes the cake with its disc brake setup. It not only helps you stop the scooter quicker but it’s also much safer than a drum brake setup.
Both scooters have the same front wheel setup, but the Ather 450X’s rear is two inches larger. This translates to more stable handling on paper.

EVs have their perks, for instance, the massive underseat storage. However, this goes for a toss when considering regular scooters because of the fuel tank integration. So, the Ather 450X should help you store much more groceries than the Activa 6G. The e-scooter weighs just a kilo over the petrol-powered one, and that shouldn’t make much of a difference.

Yes, the Honda Activa 6G costs a lot less than the Ather 450X, but you must take into account fuel expenses and the annual maintenance costs. In the long run, EVs go easy on the wallet as there’s bare minimum maintenance needed. Even charging the battery doesn’t cost a ton.
On the flip side, EVs have their own challenges. We’re talking about range anxiety, the adequacy of charging infra, and long charging time. As far as electric scooters are concerned, the Ather 450X, is without a doubt, the best we have tested yet. But if you’re planning to buy a 110cc scooter, the Honda Activa 6G is definitely a crowd favourite.
