With the launch of 35 series, the Bajaj Chetak range is now available in 4 variants in total

Bajaj Auto has recently launched the Chetak 35 series in India. The 35 series scooters are now the top-of-the-line products under the Chetak range. Available in two variants, the Chetak 3501 is the more premium one which is priced at Rs 1,27,243, whereas the Chetak 3502 is cheaper and costs Rs 1,20,000 (both prices ex-showroom, Bengaluru).

Here’s how they are different from each other:

While the 3.5kWh battery pack is shared by the Bajaj Chetak 3501 and Bajaj Chetak 3502, the chargers on both scooters are different. The top-end 3501 variant gets a 950kW on-board charger which charges the battery pack from 0 to 80 percent in just 3 hours. Whereas, the 3502 comes with an external charger which charges it from 0 to 80 percent in 3 hours 25 minutes.

In terms of features, the Chetak 3501 gets a new touchscreen TFT display. It comes with a Google map navigation, limited smartphone connectivity features, a fob key and only a single Eco ride mode. There are more features available, but those will only be unlocked after the purchase of TecPac. The TecPac on the Chetak 3501 brings Sports mode, full smartphone connectivity along with geo-fencing, sequential indicators, guide me home lights, trip and data reports and over-speed alert with speed limit settings.

The Bajaj Chetak 3502 also has a TFT instrument console but it is not touch-enabled like the 3501. The 3502 has turn-by-turn navigation, a physical key and a single Eco ride mode as standard. It misses out on a full Google Maps navigation and a fob key. The Chetak 3502 electric scooter also gets additional features with the TecPac, but on this, TecPac lacks sequential indicators and in-console document storage features. However, the price of TecPac for both scooters hasn’t been revealed yet.

What’s the same on both scooters

The Bajaj Chetak 35 Series scooters also have the same design as the other Chetak scooters. It is available in five colour schemes: Brooklyn Black, Pista Green, Hazel Nut, Indigo Metallic Blue and Matte Red.

Both 3501 and 3502 scooters get the same 3.5kWh battery pack, which is claimed to deliver a real-world range of 120-125km. The scooters also get a new side-mounted electric motor that provides a top speed of 73kmph.

The scooters get a new frame, in which the battery pack is located under the floorboard. Hence, the Chetak 35 series scooters get a generous 35-litre underseat storage. Both the scooters in Chetak’s 35 series ride on 12-inch alloy wheels. The braking setup includes a front disc brake and a rear drum brake, with combined braking system (CBS) as standard.

Both scooters rival the likes of Ola S1 Pro, Ather Rizta, Vida V2 and the TVS iQube in the Indian electric scooter market.
