Bajaj CT100

Bajaj has decided to reduce the price of its highest selling 100cc commuter, the CT100 under Rs. 35,000. At the same time, the company is working towards breaching the fuel economy of 100kmpl for another popular commuter, Platina ES. Earlier, the Pune based automaker had 23% of market share in 2014 and the company is aiming at 45 percent segment share. On the same lines, Bajaj is looking to bring at least  4-5 products at various price points, from entry-level commuter to the premium motorcycles.

The 2016 lineup for Baja may include the lower priced CT100, the improved Platina ES, an all-new brand in executive segment, which has spied many times, and a premium motorcycle between the price range of Rs. 1 lac and 2 lac. According to the Eric Vas, President for motorcycle business at Bajaj Auto, “We are stretching the envelope at both end commuter and premium but our biggest focus is going to be on the new brand in the executive segment this year, which will give us incremental volumes”.

Since its inception, Bajaj CT100 has been quite popular in rural areas thanks to its impressive mileage. Later the sales of the motorcycle started falling and the company had to take it off. In 2015, Bajaj re-introduced it with added features and sportier design compared to the previous generation model. The introduction of CT100 helped the company to gain its lost momentum in the entry level commuter segment.
