-
Performance equivalent to 100-110cc bike
The upcoming Bajaj CNG bike launch will happen on July 5. Chakan-based brand has sent out an invite for the same, which also partially teases the bike. It was reported earlier that the launch was happening on July 17, but as per the new information, Bajaj will launch the world’s first CNG bike on the aforementioned date.
It will be a bi-fuel bike which will primarily run on CNG, but will have a small auxiliary petrol tank to help in case the bike runs out of CNG. In the partial teaser, we can clearly see that the seat is extraordinarily long. As much as to be comfortable a rider and 3 pillions, not that we condone so many pillions. It seems like the CNG tank will be horizontally mounted in the centre of the bike, under the seat. The bike appears to have a sloper-like engine with performance likely to be equivalent to a 110cc petrol-powered bike. CNG price is cheaper per kg as compared to petrol price per litre. This should ensure the CNG bike running costs are lower than petrol-powered bikes.
We also know that the name ‘Bruzer’ was just a development code name and the actual name could very well be ‘Bajaj Fighter’. From what we have seen in the earlier spy shots, the Bajaj CNG bike will have two variants – a regular variant and a more rugged variant. The first one will be a more affordable variant with a commuter-ish design with a circular LED headlight and bulb indicators. It also has a flyscreen above the headlight and a simpler-looking exhaust. The rugged version gets knuckle-guards, a raised & braced handlebar, an engine sump cover, fork-sleeves, and a rear tyre hugger.
It’s expected to be launched at around Rs 80,000 (ex-showroom), and will not have any direct competitors. That said, other petrol-powered options include Honda Shine 100, TVS Radeon and the Hero Splendor Plus.
