The offer includes five years of free own damage insurance cover, five free services and five years of free warranty
- Bajaj first introduced this offer on the CT100, Platina, Discover, V range and Pulsar range of bikes.
- The 5-5-5 offer reduces the cost of ownership over the long run.
- This offer should help improve the monthly sales figures for the Dominar 400 and clear any existing stocks before an updated version is launched.
Bajaj, the Chakan based two-wheeler manufacturer has introduced its popular 5-5-5 offer on the Dominar 400. The offer was first introduced for Bajaj's commuter bikes to boost sales and now extends to the Dominar. The offer which is valid till 31 December 2018 comprises five years of free own damage insurance cover, five free services and five years of warranty. The offer was designed to reduce the long-term cost of ownership keeping in mind fluctuating fuel prices and the recent hike in insurance costs.
These additional benefits on the Dominar 400 can be accredited to its shrinking monthly sales. To put things into perspective, the company had launched the bike expecting sales figures of around 10,000 units per month. Unfortunately, the Dominar 400, although an excellent proposition, never crossed 2,000 units per month. And lately, the numbers have been dropping even further from 1,652 units in October 2017 to 659 units in the corresponding month this year.
Moreover, the discontinuation of the non-ABS variant and the constant price hikes are also to blame for the diminishing sales. That said, Bajaj intends to make a comeback by introducing an updated model early next year which should add some oomph to the bike. In fact, the bike was recently spotted with updated components like USD forks, a double-barrel exhaust and an updated paint scheme. You can read about it here.
Powering the bike is a 373.3cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that churns out 35PS of power and 35Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed transmission assisted by a slipper clutch. Apart from this, the bike features a full-digital instrument console, dual-channel ABS, LED lighting at both ends, a twin-spar frame and a 320mm front disc brake which is the largest in the segment.
Priced at Rs 1.63 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the Bajaj Dominar 400 competes against the recently launched Jawas, the Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500, Royal Enfield Himalayan and the Mahindra Mojo.
