Big Dog Motorcycles Launches K9 Red Chopper-111 In India

The exclusive Big Dog K9 Red Chopper-111 is now available in India with a whopping price tag of Rs 59 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The United States-based motorcycle maker, Big Dog Motorcycles, has launched its K9 Red Chopper-111 in India with a surprisingly expensive price tag of Rs 59 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Powered by a 1,807cc V-Twin engine from S&S Superslider, the exclusive chopper bike weighs a total of 304kg.

Big Dog Motorcycles was brought to India by Big Motorcycle Company, founded by Samar JS Sodhi. The firm also runs the Indian franchise of EagleRider which is the world's largest motorcycle tourism and luxury motorcycle rental company.

Announcing the launch, Sodhi, said, “For decades, I was planning to get this motorcycle here in India and now finally my dream has come true. I believe that this motorcycle will attract the right rider who is looking for a unique, ‘one of one’ custom chopper which will make its presence felt on the road, and guess what this is completely street legal in India."

Founded in 1994 in Wichita, Kansas, USA, Big Dog Motorcycles is the world’s largest manufacturer of custom designed bikes. The company has an experience of 22 years in making road legal high-performance cruisers and choppers and has delivered over 3 lakh motorcycles till date in the global market. And their growth has now allowed them to finally land in the Indian market. Big Dog provides numerous customising options to its customers which will allow them to personalise their bikes and the company claims that no two motorcycles will ever be the same in India.

Coming to the very first Big Dog bike launched in India, the K9 Red Chopper 111 is ‘One of One’, built under the aegis of Kansas Motor Works (KMW). It comes with a 37-degree rake with elongated telescopic forks at the front, providing it with a wheelbase of 2,082mm. With an overall length of 2,743mm, the bike offers a saddle height of just around 622mm and a ground clearance of 115mm. The huge S&S Superslider engine of the bike comes mated to a Jim’s 6-Speed, Right-Side-Drive, Close Ratio, Straight Cut gearbox that Big Dog claims is bulletproof. It sources specialised COBRA tyres from Avon; 83mm wide for the 21-inch front wheel and a massive 250mm wide tyre for the 18-inch rear wheel. Both the front and rear disc brakes come with 4-piston from Performance Machine. But the most important feature of the Big Dog K9 Red Chopper is its outstanding custom made design that is more than enough to make you stand apart from the crowd.
