BMW C 400 GT Maxi-scooter Launched In India At Rs 9.95 Lakh

The most powerful scooter in the country costs a lakh less than the F 900 XR!

After months of teasing, BMW Motorrad has finally launched the C 400 GT in India with an eye-watering price tag of Rs 9.95 lakh (ex-showroom). So, what makes this maxi-scooter thrice as pricey as the BMW G 310 GS? Well, firstly, this maxi-scooter is brought to our shores as a Completely Built Unit (CBU).

That said, it isn’t just the importing that pushes this scooter’s price. The BMW C 400 GT packs an impressive kit too. Powering this maxi-scooter is a 350cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine belting out 34PS and 35Nm. That’s 7Nm more than the G 310 GS, even though the power is the same.

So, is the 7Nm enough to justify the Rs 6 lakh difference between the C 400 GT and the G 310 GS? Of course not. While the GS only gets switchable ABS, the C 400 GT flaunts Automatic Stability Control (ASC) and dual-channel ABS as standard. Furthermore, the maxi-scooter also flaunts a full colour TFT display, smartphone connectivity and navigation assist, a big leap from the GS’s digital console.

Now, this maxi-scooter won’t be half the fun without the apt hardware. BMW has deployed a 35mm telescopic fork up front with 110mm travel, while the preload-adjustable dual shocks offer 112mm travel. Dropping anchor on this 214kg beast are twin 265mm discs clamping onto 4-piston calipers, and a 265mm disc with single-pot caliper at the rear. The C 400 GT rides on a 15-inch front and 14-inch rear wheel.

In a true-blue maxi-scooter fashion, the BMW C 400 GT scores high on features and storage too. It flaunts LED illumination, keyless ignition and USB charging. It flaunts a massive underseat storage space, thanks to the 12.8-litre fuel tank being located near the floorboard.

Even with everything taken in account, the BMW C 400 GT is an expensive proposition. To add to our wooes, the Rs 9.95 lakh price tag is introductory. The BMW C 400 GT has no competitor in the Indian market, however, at this price it is just Rs 60,000 more expensive than the Triumph Street Scrambler 900 BS6.
