Boom Motors Corbett Electric Moped Launched

Modified On Nov 11, 2021 04:00 PM By Punya Sharma for BNC Motors Corbett 14

Comes in two variants, with prices starting from Rs 86,999 (ex-showroom)

The Boom Corbett gets 3kW and 4kW motor options, depending on the variant. Gets LED lighting, swappable batteries, and a 30-litre underseat storage. Rolls on 14-inch alloy wheels, clamped by disc brakes at both ends.

Boom Motors, an Indian EV startup, has launched its electric moped, called the Corbett. It comes in two variants: Corbett 14 and Corbett 14 EX, priced at Rs 86,999 and Rs 1,19,999 (ex-showroom), respectively. Please remember that these are introductory prices and will increase to Rs 89,999 and Rs 1,24,999 sometime in the future. These aren’t exactly the most price-competitive offerings, but costs will come down considerably once state subsidies come into action.

So what do you get for the money? Right off the bat, the Corbett 14 gets a 3kW motor mated to a 2.3kWh battery, allowing it a top-speed and range of 65kmph and 100km, respectively. Being the more premium variant, the Corbett 14 EX uses a 4kW motor with a 4.6kWh battery (the biggest for an electric two-wheeler in India), giving it a 75kmph top speed and an impressive 200km claimed range.

Both scooters can be fully charged in 2.5 hours with a fast charger and four hours with a conventional household power source. The batteries are swappable and come with a five-year warranty.

Thanks to its design, the Corbett won't be just another offering lost in the crowd. It gets quirky styling with an external tubular frame all around, and it's offered in four colour options: Panther Black, Beetle Red, Whale Blue, and Mantis Green. You'd think the names are in tune with our environment, aren't they?

The exoskeleton frame is sprung on a unique trailing link four-point adjustable suspension at the front with twin shocks at the rear. The scooter rides on 14-inch alloys, clamped by single disc brakes at both ends. A combined braking system is standard on the Boom Corbett.

But it isn't all about the looks; the scooter is quite practical too. The Corbett gets a spacious 30-litre understeat storage, and the company plans to offer additional accessories to increase the storage space further. Features include LED lighting, anti-theft and accident detection, and even a parental mode.

Bookings of the Boom Corbett will commence from tomorrow, November 12, for just Rs 499. The company plans to start deliveries by January 2022.
