Bounce Infinity Battery Swap Stations To Be Installed At BPCL Pumps
E-scooter maker Bounce partners with Bharat Petroleum to expand its battery swapping station network
Bounce Infinity is not only introducing an electric offering, the E1 e-scooter, but is also promising a wide network of battery swapping stations instead of going the fast-charging network route. Hence, Bounce’s new partnership with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) is a bold move. It grants Bounce access to a wide network of fuel pumps where it can position its swapping stations.
BPCL themselves are said to be looking at making an energy transition, and this partnership, similar to its recent association with Hero MotoCorp, establishes its commitment towards a cleaner future. These swapping stations will primarily service two- and three-wheelers across multiple brands in the future as well. Besides, this partnership will have Bounce operate out of more than 20,000 BPCL fuel stations across 10 cities. The phase-wise expansion is looking to build an infrastructure that should support upwards of a million scooters over the next two years.

Battery swapping is a far quicker and efficient alternative to the long time usually spent topping up the EV batteries, a crucial roadblock against the widespread adoption of short-range two- and three-wheeled EVs. In theory, it is as quick as filling petrol. Moreover, it could be just the thing needed for making EVs more livable for commuters across the country.
