BSA Gold Star Design
The 2024 BSA Gold Star feels like a modern take on the iconic Gold Star from the 60s. It stays true to the retro design language we have come to associate with the golden era of British motorcycles.
The Gold Star features a round headlight, teardrop shaped tank and a single piece seat. The brand has given the bike chrome detailing on the tank, engine crankcase and exhaust. Opt for the ‘Shadow Black’ colour scheme, and you’d swap the chrome touches for matte finishes for that stealth look.
Overall, the bike looks quite good and small bits like the BSA badging on the tank, the company logo on the engine piston head and the logo on the side panel gives it a premium appeal.
BSA Gold Star Engine And Performance
The BSA Gold Star is powered by a 652cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine paired to a 5-speed transmission. The engine outputs 45.6PS at 6500rpm and 55Nm at 4000rpm. The Gold Star being powered by a big-single will likely offer a riding experience that is quite different from other roadsters in the market such as the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 which is powered by a twin-cylinder engine.
We can expect the BSA Gold Star to offer a riding experience that will be similar to the discontinued Royal Enfield Classic 500, with the iconic ‘thump’ which big singles are known for.
BSA Gold Star Underpinnings
The BSA Gold Star is built on a dual-cradle frame and is suspended on 41mm telescopic fork and twin gas charged shock absorbers, with 5-step preload adjustability.
The roadster rolls on an 18-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheel with 100-section front and 150-section rear Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp tyres. Braking duties are handled by a 320mm front and 255mm rear disc, with dual-channel ABS.
BSA Gold Star Features
The BSA Gold Star gets a twin-pod analogue instrument console with a speedometer on the left and a tachometer on the right. The Gold Star’s console features a digital inset on both the pods, with the one on the left showing odometer and tripmeter readouts, and the one on the right showing fuel level.
There are also telltale lights mounted on top of the headlight section, showing neutral, side-stand indicator and check engine light. Other features on the Gold Star include a USB charging port and safety additions like an anti-theft engine immobiliser.
BSA Gold Star Rivals
The BSA Gold Star currently has no rivals in the 650cc single-cylinder segment, so it goes up against other retro roadsters in the market such as the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. The Interceptor 650 for perspective starts at Rs 3,03,000 (ex-showroom).
