Yes, it is official. The big-time South Korean motorcycle manufacturer Hyosung has split up with its former ally Indian sun film major Garware, with whom it had an alliance for the motorcycle market of India. Rising to the occasion are DSK Motowheels, a division of DS Kulkarni group which works on variety of fields from real estate to car dealerships. As a matter of fact, DSK is known for its high quality service in western India and runs a chain of Toyota dealerships. So, that should be a point of relief for the owners of Hyosung motorcycles in the nation. As a result assembling of engine and transmissions will now take place in India which will ultimately result in the cost of the motorcycle going down as CKD kits attract 10% duty as opposed to the 75% duty on completely built units (CBU).
As of now, the new launch of Hyosung for Indian Market is the fully faired GT250R which will have the engine assembled in India. Because of this DSK-Hyosung partnership the company is expected to price this new beast very competitively, and frankly that is exactly what is required in the current market considering that this bike will have to go up against really strong contenders in the name of Honda CBR250R and the Kawasaki Ninja 250R. The new Hyosung GT250R will sport a V-Twin oil-cooled 250 cc four-stroke engine.
Hyosung GT250R features a DOHC layout with four valves per cylinder. The bike will work under a maximum power of 28 bhp and a 23 Nm of peak torque will be produced. DSK-Hyosung plans to launch many more products this coming season including a 250 and 650 cc cruiser. As of now the brand produces three motorcycles in India, GT650R, GT650N and ST7. This beast in the name of Hyosung GT250R is prepared to run on the streets from 13 June 2012.
