The first phase trial run of the Odd-Even rule in Indian Capital has come to an end. Though, during this first phase, the residents of the national capital faced many problems but somehow they have managed it thanks to Hero Electric's E-bikes. As per the records, over 18k people used E-Bikes for last mile connectivity rides.
The residents of Delhi have endorsed the support of Hero Electric's and were appreciative of last mile connectivity ride. This proved the fact that with the proper policy, infrastructure and financial schemes, electric two-wheelers can be a big help in reducing vehicular pollution without making any impact on mobility.
Hero Electric had arranged over 100 electric bikes at more than ten prudent places during the Odd-Even vehicle rationing phase in Delhi to offer the complimentary last mile rides to the residents of the national capital during morning and evening hours.
Apart from the common masses of Delhi, this initiative has also got the endorsement from Delhi's Environment Minister Imran Hussain, Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Health Minister Satyendra Kumar Jain as they have also used E-Bikes to reach their respective offices.
Sohinder Gill, Director, Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles (SMEV) said that "Intention to migrate to green mobility solution is very much there as proven in the feedback given by 18000 Commuter who used our services although a high speed more efficient Lithium Ion based electric vehicle will be ideal for city such as Delhi. Delhi Government Support is anticipated to create a necessary conducive ecosystem by incentivising the customers directly and also provide robust charging infrastructure. There can't be a better time than now as a positive momentum has been gained during the odd-even phase”.
Sohinder Gill also said that "It is very much possible to have a population of 2 lakh E-bikes within 2 years with little but right support at the ground level”. "Once the city is well populated with charging infrastructure, it will further incentivise people to opt for E-bikes,” he added.
