EXCLUSIVE: Upcoming BGauss EV Launch Details Revealed

Modified On Dec 29, 2021 01:15 PM By Praveen M. for BGauss B8

The company will be launching two electric scooters early next year

We recently caught up with Hemant Kabra, founder and MD of BGauss, and he shared some insights into the company’s future plans. In July 2020, BGauss started off with the launch of two electric scooters: the BGauss B8 (a high-speed e-scooter) and BGauss A2 (a low-speed e-scooter).

Now, the company plans to launch two new high-speed electric scooters in 2022, one in February and the other in April. And unlike its current lineup, the two electric scooters will be eligible for FAME II subsidies, so expect their ex-showroom pricing to be around Rs 90,000 (excluding subsidies). For perspective, the top-end BGauss B8 retails at Rs 88,999 (ex-showroom).

Kabra said the company has applied its learnings from current products and the market onto the upcoming EVs. Several aspects of the electric scooters have been developed in-house to ensure sustainability. The battery cells are coming from abroad, but BGauss has designed its own battery pack for the two. This should offer the company better control over the e-scooters’ range. Moreover, RR Global’s expertise (BGauss’ parent company) in electrical equipment has helped them build their own motors, reducing dependency on other motor makers such as Bosch.

Expect the two made-in-India electric scooters to be sporty and feature-packed. They will rival other high-speed, affordable electric scooters such as the Hero Electric Photon, Okinawa PraisePro, and Ampere Magnus Pro.

Kabra also spoke about the company’s dealership expansion plans. Currently, there are around 32 dealerships – on track as per the company’s Diwali plans for 2021 – and it’s bullish about setting up over 250 dealerships pan-India by March 2023. It may not be much compared to the more well-established Hero Electric’s 700+ sales and service centers, but it can still go a long way in easier EV adoption. Expect BGauss to reveal more details about its upcoming electric scooters closer to their launch dates.
