Here’s China’s Answer To BMW C 400 GT
QJMotor unveils the swanky QJ350 in China, it's as capable as the German scooter at HALF the price!
Chinese Motorcycle giant QJMotor has just unveiled its first maxi-scooter called the QJ350, and there’s no doubt that this is an absolute looker. While at first sight, one might think that this scooter bears an uncanny resemblance to the BMW C 400 GT, it’s when you get into the intricate details that you realise the differences between both the scooters.
From the aggressive looking front fascia, to the boomerang shaped integrated indicators, every aesthetic aspect of this scooter portrays a futuristic theme. Judging purely by the overall look, this GT scooter is perfect to be cast in a Star Wars movie should George Lucas decide on a 2022 remake. Apart from the appearance of the powertrain and exhaust, every part of the QJ350 is designed differently when compared with the C 400 GT.
Powering this scooter is a 350cc, single-cylinder, water-cooled engine developing 34.3 PS, which again is similar to BMW maxi-scooter’s 34PS, thus making this scooter a direct rival to the C 400 GT and Honda Forza 350. The QJ350 comes equipped with a TFT display along with keyless start. Given how impressive the design of the scooter is, the lack of electronic aids like traction control is definitely disappointing.
However, the hardware specifications do not disappoint as the 195kg behemoth comes equipped with 15-inch wheel at the front and 14-inch wheel at the rear, wrapped with Pirelli rubber. Braking duties are performed by dual front discs and a single rear disc, all clamped with ByBre calipers and accompanied by dual channel ABS assist.

Hence, by sacrificing some electronic gizmos, you get a swanky-looking, futuristic scooter with impressive firepower.
Unfortunately the QJ350 is unlikely to find its way to India at least in the near future. But, if you’re looking for a maxi-scooter, the BMW C 400 GT is available in India albeit at a stratospheric price of Rs 10,40,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). Lower down the spectrum you have the Aprilia SXR160, SXR125 and the Suzuki Burgman Street maxi-style scooters.
