Honda Dio BS6: All You Need To Know

Modified On Feb 10, 2020 11:21 PM By Jehan Adil Darukhanawala for Honda Dio

Know all about the updated youthful cousin of the Activa 6G

The sportier cousin of the Honda Activa 6G, the Honda Dio BS6, has received a number of changes to stay fresh in 2020, 18 years after it was first introduced. Here’s what you need to know about the new scooter:

Edgier styling

Over the course of 18 years, Honda has managed to keep the looks of the Dio appealing and edgy for the youth. It looks a lot more European now, giving off hints of the Honda Grazia. The scooter arrives in seven colours in all -- four liveries for the standard variant and three for the deluxe one. The latter trim also gets an LED headlight.

Future emission compliant heart

In order to meet BS6 emission norms, Honda has kitted the Dio BS6 with the same 109.51cc single-cylinder engine that you find on the Activa 6G. The brand new engine gets fuel injection to meet BS6 norms. The new powerplant puts out 7.76PS and 9Nm, which is 0.16PS less than the older engine.

New mechanical components

Just like the Activa 6G, Honda has also given the Dio BS6 a new telescopic fork and a 12-inch front wheel. The wheelbase has gone up by 22mm, which could make it more stable at speed. We would have liked if Honda could offer a front disc brake option as a premium variant. Nevertheless, both variants get CBS as standard.

Additional modern features

The ACG starter has been a trademark feature of new Hondas in this BS6 era. The full digital information cluster gets a revised layout. Aside from the usual data, you also get real-time and average fuel efficiency indicator as well as a side stand indicator. The side stand engine cut-off switch comes as an optional accessory. An external fuel filler cap and a front apron cubby hole increase the convenience quotient of the scooter.

Marginal price hike

Honda has launched the standard variant of the Dio BS6 at Rs 59,990 (ex-showroom Delhi), which is Rs 5,749 more than its corresponding BS4 version. As far as the deluxe variants go, it comes at a premium of Rs 7,099, carrying a sticker price of Rs 63,340.
