Honda Files Patent For Its ADV 350 Maxi-scooter In India

Published On Jun 6, 2022 03:02 PM By Ishan Lee for Honda Forza 350

Big wings for bigger scooter adventures, it’s ideal but is it practical?

Last year at EICMA, Honda unveiled the ADV350 maxi-scooter. As the name suggests, like the Honda X-ADV and the Africa Twin, adventure riding is its game. Honda has also recently filed for a design patent for the ADV350 in India. Given the arrival of maxi-scooters from Yamaha and Keeway, we know that the market exists. But does the ADV350 have enough wind under its Big Wing(s) to take flight in India?

Powered by the same 330cc mill as the Honda Forza 350 maxi-scooter, its 29PS and 31.9Nm offer a proper step up from the smaller Honda ADV150. With that kind of firepower, this scooter finds itself knocking on the doors of BMW Motorrad’s C 400 GT, which is not only the fastest scooter on sale in India, but also the most expensive.

With off-road hardware like a 37mm USD fork, twin rear shocks, big 15-inch (front) and 14-inch (rear) alloy wheels setup, dual-purpose tyres, and disc brakes at both ends, this scooter should handle Indian roads well. But, like the Rs 10.40 lakh (ex-showroom) BMW C 400 GT and rumored Rs 7 lakh (ex-showroom) Honda Forza 300, the ADV 350 would certainly cost a pretty penny.

With the arrival of maxi scooters like Yamaha’s Aerox 155 at Rs 1.38 lakh(ex-showroom) and Keeway’s Vieste 300 at Rs 2.99 lakh (ex-showroom), we see the ADV350 as an expensive proposition for having a few mild off-road adventures on scooters. Patenting models in major markets is common practice for brands, however, launching them is a whole different ball game. Hence, even if you have the bank to break for the ADV350, we wouldn’t suggest you hold your breath.
