Hop Electric Launches A “High-speed” Variant Of Its Leo Electric Scooter
This e-scooter is loaded with features and is priced under a lakh!
There’s a new high-speed electric scooter in town, as Hop Electric has launched a new variant of the Leo. The top speed of this high-speed electric scooter is 25kmph. Confused? Well, we’ll explain in detail.
The newly launched Hop Leo gets an IP67 rated BLDC hub electric motor that produces a peak of 2.2kW, while the torque at wheel is 90Nm. This motor draws power from a 2.4kWh battery pack, which offers a claimed range of 120km. Hop also provides an 850W smart charger which is claimed to offer a 0-80 percent charging time of 2.5 hours.
Despite the above drivetrain, the top speed of the Leo remains capped at 25kmph. Yet, this is classified as a high-speed electric scooter as it gets a 2.2kW motor. Legally, any electric scooter with a motor rated above 250W is considered to be a high-speed scooter. That said, we feel it is a bit overkill to have a more powerful motor if the top speed is capped to just 25kmph.
The Hop Leo is underpinned by a telescopic fork and hydraulic spring-loaded rear shock absorber. Braking setup includes disc brakes at both ends, with the safety net of combined braking system. In terms of features, the Leo gets all LED lighting, a LCD instrument cluster, remote keyless ignition, regenerative braking and four riding modes – Eco, Power, Sport and Reverse.
The Leo can also be paired with a smartphone, which additionally provides a whole range of connectivity features like alerts for tow, theft, rash riding, speeding and low battery, along with vehicle tracking and geo fencing. This electric scooter is available in five colours – Black, White, Grey, Blue and Red.
