Host country Indonesia wins the 10th Yamaha ASEAN Cup Race 2013

The Japanese auto giant Yamaha Motor Co. Ltd. and P.T. Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing organized the 10th Yamaha ASEAN Cup Race 2013 last week at the Sentul International Circuit in West Java, Indonesia. The race was concluded as a two day event on November 30 and December 1, 2013, in which the host country's team emerged as the winner. The event was an international one-make championship competition to crown the No. 1 rider of the ASEAN region.

About 50,000 spectators gathered over the two days at the circuit to watch the competition by teams consisting of a total of 41 riders selected through national qualifiers in the five participating countries, including the host country of Indonesia and the Philippines, India, Thailand and Malaysia, and three special-entry riders from Japan. Racing under optimum conditions in an exciting and competitive atmosphere, the riders battled aggressively in these thrilling races.

Results of the different race categories are, the ST Class (YZF-R15) was won by Mr. Prawat Yannawut (Thailand) who finished 1st and 2nd in the two heats, while the MT Class (JUPITER Z1, a 113.7cc scooter style bike) was won by Mr. Richard Taroreh (Indonesia) who placed 3rd in both heats in front of the cheering home crowd. The overall team championship title went to Indonesia for a record sixth time. The event was also graced by two-time MotoGP world champion and Yamaha racer Mr. Jorge Lorenzo who gave a circuit demo run using the YZF-R6 bike.

Top five performing riders of the YZF-R15 One Make Race Championship held in India, represented Yamaha Motor India at the Yamaha ASEAN Cup 2013. All the five Indian contestants namely Mr. Vivek Pillai, Mr. Ananth Raj, Mr. Shyam Shankar, Mr. Akash Dingare and Mr. Lal Rindika competed in the ST class. Mr. Ananth Raj, Mr. Akash Dingare and Mr. Shyam Shankar achieved 10th, 12th and 16th Rank respectively in Race #1 and Mr. Shyam Shankar achieved 14th Rank in Race#2.
