Kawasaki- the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer is playing aggressively in the Indian market after its solo entry in the performance segment. The company already offering a line-up of 7 models including 4 under the brand Ninja- 300, 650, 1000, ZX-10R and ZX-14R and 2 with the brand Z- 800 and 1000. Now the company is further expanding this line-up with 2 new models- Z250 and ER-6n, which will be launched tomorrow (16th-October-2014).
One of the most anticipated motorcycles in India- Kawasaki Z250 was in news for a long time. Now, finally the company is launching the entry level performance motorcycle with an aggressive wild styling. Powering the the Streetfighter is a 249cc, liquid-cooled parallel-twin motor, which makes 31.5bhp of maximum power at 11,000rpm along with a peak torque of 21Nm at 10,000rpm. The well tuned high revv engine comes mated to a smooth 6-speed transmission to allow quick shifting in the streets. Design of the bike is almost similar to the Ninja 300, however, being a naked sport bike, it misses the ful faired front and gets a 'Z' instinct.
The 168 kg weighing motorcycle, Kawasaki Z250 comes with 31mm telescopic forks at the front, while an advance unit of bottom-link uni-trak suspension with gas charged shock absorber and 5-step preload adjustability at the rear. The 17" light weight alloys gets 110/70 and 140/70 section tyres at the front and the rear respectively. The bike has a dual disc braking system with 290mm front and 220mm rear discs grabbed by 2 piston calipers. Price of the Kawasaki Z250 in India is expected to be between its two main competitors- KTM 200 Duke and 390 Duke, hence under Rs. 2 lakh.
The Kawasaki ER-6n is naked version of the Ninja 650 and gets the similar engineering and style apart from the full body front fairing. It sports the 649cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC 8-Valve, parallel-twin engine, which delivers 71.1bhp of top power at 8,500rpm and a torque upto 64Nm at 7,00rpm, using digital fuel injection. It comes with 41mm front telescopic forks and single offset laydown Shock with 7-step adjustability at the rear. The 17" cast rims of the bike are covered by 120/70 section rubber at the front and a meatier 160/60 section tyre at the rear. The front and rear wheel come equipped with 300mm dual disc and 220mm single disc brakes respectively, and the ABS system might be kept optional with an additional cost.
