Kymco X-town 300i To Arrive In India Soon

Modified On Jun 11, 2019 05:31 PM By Gaurav Sadanand for 22Kymco X-Town 300i

The brand is teasing the premium scooter on its social media, which suggests that it will be launched in India soon

Kymco may soon launch its maxi scooter, the Kymco X-town 300i, in India. The maxi scooter is priced at $ 3,999 (approx. Rs 2.7 lakh) in the international market. It gets sharp styling, a powerful motor and a host of features. The scooter is powered by a 276cc, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine.

Kymco has teased one of its scooters that’s set to hit Indian shores pretty soon via its social media handle. The teaser image showcases a sporty maxi scooter with the ‘300’ badging, which leads us to believe that it could be the X-town 300i from the brand’s international portfolio. If this pans out, it will be the second proper maxi scooter (first being the Kinetic Blaze) to be launched in India with intimidating proportions, sharp styling and a bunch of features. While we had earlier expected the company to enter India with an all-electric portfolio, it seems like Kymco will be taking the petrol-powered route first with the X-town 300i.

The international-spec X-town 300i comes with a split headlight running LED DRLs, a rather tall windscreen, cubby holes in the front apron, an X-shaped LED tail light and a semi-digital instrument console. It also comes with plenty of storage space under the seat, so much so that you could fit not one but two helmets in there.

As for its powertrain, the scooter uses a 276cc, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that dishes out 24.4PS of power at 7,250rpm and 25Nm of peak torque at 6,250rpm. Also, since the scooter already gets fuel injection, it will be a lot easier for the brand to further tune it to comply with upcoming BS6 emission norms. That said, we expect the India-spec model to receive a slightly detuned engine to keep costs in check.

In terms of underpinnings, the X-town 300i uses telescopic fork and a twin shock absorber setup. A single 260mm front and 240mm rear disc paired with dual-channel ABS handle braking duties. Its 14-inch front and 13-inch rear wheels come shod in 120/80 and 150/70-section tyres respectively.

A large 12.5-litre fuel tank should see you going the distance while a seat height of 800mm makes sure the scooter is accessible for average sized riders. However, a weight of 181kg (dry) might put off potential buyers. It’s priced at $ 3,999 (approx. Rs 2.7 lakh) in the international market but we expect Kymco to price the X-town 300i around the Rs 2 lakh mark, of course, with some cost-cutting measures in India.
