Movistar Yamaha Wins the 2015 MotoGP Team World Championship with 4 Races to Spare

Movistar Yamaha has won the 2015 MotoGP Team World Championship title with four races of the season yet to happen. They have become the champions after a gap of 4 years with Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi outperforming the other riders. These riders are also battling for the first place in this MotoGP edition with VR46 leading his Spanish teammate by a margin of 14 points. The recent race in Gran Premio Movistar de Aragón showcased a first spot finish for Lorenzo and a podium finish for Rossi ensuring the winner’s title for Movistar Yamaha.

A total of 14 races took place in this edition of MotoGP, out of which, 10 are won by Movistar Yamaha. In these 10 victories, Lorenzo has won 6 times whereas Rossi won the race 4 times. Currently, Lorenzo is second on the points table with 249 points catching up to his teammate who currently leads the table with 263 points. The Spanish GP registered Lorenzo’s 60th MotoGP victory and Rossi’s 209th podium finish.

Talking about Movistar Yamaha winning the MotoGP Team Championship, the current MotoGP leader, Valentino Rossi, said, “The Team World Title is a great achievement for everybody, because all the team, all the engineers were able to improve the M1 and gave us a great bike.” He added, “We did a great step compared to last year and compared to Honda also, especially. It is also a great achievement for the riders because we always care about this and this year me and Jorge were able to win a lot of points and arrived in front a lot of the time. So everybody in the team is very happy.”
