Multiple TVS Electric Vehicles Incoming: Retron Electric Bike, Creon Production Version & More
TVS reportedly plans to launch around six electric vehicles in the next 24 months
Of the six upcoming EVs, the production version of the Creon could be one. Expect the Retron name that was trademarked earlier to be an electric commuter motorcycle. The EVs are likely to be sold under a sub-brand called TVS Electric.Speaking to a media house, TVS' joint Managing Director Sudarshan Venu has revealed the company plans to launch “over half a dozen EV vehicles across segments in the next 24 months”.
Venu has also revealed that the company has set up a new vertical to design and manufacture electric vehicles. The Hosur-based brand has set aside Rs 1,000 crore to support this new sub-brand.
TVS Sport, Star City+, And Radeon: July 2021 Offers Sunra Robo-S: The TVS iQube Clone From China TVS iQube Electric: First Ride ReviewThis sub-brand will likely be called ‘TVS Electric’, considering the name has already been registered in the country. The trademark was filed back in June 2018, along with the name ‘TVS Hybrid’. It was in the same year (in February) that the manufacturer unveiled the TVS Zeppelin Concept and the TVS Creon electric scooter concept at the Auto Expo. Expect one of them to be the production version of the TVS Creon electric scooter concept. This upcoming e-scooter will be a sporty offering priced at a premium over the TVS iQube Electric. This will help the brand compete against the Ather 450X, which is currently the sportiest and the most feature-packed electric scooter in the country.
One of the upcoming electric two-wheelers could also be a commuter motorcycle, likely to be called the TVS Retron. The trademark for this name was filed back in November 2020. It could offer performance equivalent to that of a 110cc petrol-powered motorcycle. Think of it as an electric version of the TVS Radeon. TVS could follow up the launch of the production version of Creon with this later.
It is also likely that one of the upcoming EVs could be an electric three-wheeler. This will go a long way in enhancing TVS’s three-wheeler market share in the country. We’re yet to see what the other three upcoming electric products are, but we do hope one of them is a sporty electric motorcycle bearing the ‘Apache’ moniker. Another potent offering could be an electric version of the TVS XL100, catering to the lower-end of the EV spectrum.
